John 11

11 ¹Wọn get one man wey im name na Lazarus wey sick, e come from Bethany, di village of Mary and im sister Martha. ²Na dis Mary—wey im broda Lazarus dey sick—wey rub di Oga with sweet-smell oil, come use im hair take dry im leg. ³So di sisters send word give am, talk say, “Oga, di person wey you love dey sick.”

⁴Wen Jesus hear dis one, e talk say, “Dis sickness no go end for death, but na for di glory of our Papa, so dat di Pikin of our Papa go fit get glory through am.”

⁵Now Jesus love Martha and im sister and Lazarus. ⁶So wen e hear say Lazarus dey sick, e still stay for wia e dey for two more days.

⁷Den afta dis, e tell im disciples, “Make we go back go Judea.”

⁸Di disciples talk give am, “Rabbi, na just now di Jews try to stone you, and you dey go back dia again?”

⁹Jesus answer, “No be twelve hour dey inside di day? Anybody wey waka for daytime no go trip—e dey see di light of dis world. ¹⁰But if anybody waka for night, e go trip, becos di light no dey inside am.” ¹¹Afta dis, e tell dem, “Our friend Lazarus don sleep, but I dey go wake am.”

¹²So di disciples talk give am, “Oga, if e don sleep, e go betta.” ¹³Now Jesus bin dey talk about im death, but dem tink say e mean ordinary sleep.

¹⁴So den Jesus tell dem clear-clear, “Lazarus don die, ¹⁵and I dey glad for una sake say I no dey dia, so dat una go believe. But make we go meet am.”

¹⁶So Thomas, wey dem dey call di Twin, tell di oda disciples, “Make we sef go, make we go die with am.”

¹⁷So wen Jesus reach, e find out say Lazarus don dey inside di tomb four days already. ¹⁸Bethany dey near Jerusalem, e be like two mile from dia, ^a a v18 Fifteen stadia na about two mile (like 3 km). ¹⁹and plenty of di Jews don come meet Martha and Mary to console dem about dia broda. ²⁰Wen Martha hear say Jesus dey come, she go meet am; but Mary siddon for house. ²¹Martha talk give Jesus, “Oga, if you bin dey here, my broda for no die. ²²But even now sef I know say anytin wey you ask our Papa, e go give you.”

²³Jesus talk give am, “Your broda go rise again.”

²⁴Martha talk give am, “I know say e go rise again for di resurrection for di last day.”

²⁵Jesus tell am, “Na me be di resurrection and di life. Anybody wey believe for me go live, even if e die, ²⁶and everybody wey dey live and believe for me no go ever die. You believe dis one?”

²⁷She talk give am, “Yes, Oga; I believe say na you be di Christ, di Pikin of our Papa, di one wey dey come into di world.”

²⁸Afta she talk dis one, she go call im sister Mary for quiet-quiet: “Di Teacher don come—e dey call you.” ²⁹Wen Mary hear dis, she stand up quick-quick come go meet am. ³⁰Jesus never enter di village yet; e still dey wia Martha meet am. ³¹Di Jews wey dey with her for house, wey dey console her, see Mary stand up quick-quick comot; dem follow her, dem tink say she dey go di tomb go cry dia. ³²Mary come meet Jesus, see am, fall for im leg, come talk say, “Oga, if you bin dey here, my broda for no die.”

³³Wen Jesus see her dey cry, and di Jews wey come with her sef dey cry, e groan for spirit and im mind no settle.

³⁴E come talk say, “Wia una lay am?” Dem talk give am, “Oga, come see.”

³⁵Jesus cry.

³⁶So di Jews talk say, “See how e love am!” ³⁷But some of dem talk say, “Dis man wey open di blind man eye, e no fit prevent dis one make e no die?”

³⁸So Jesus, wey im mind touch am deep again, come reach di tomb—na cave wey dem put stone against am.

³⁹Jesus talk say, “Comot di stone.” Martha, di dead man sister, talk give am, “Oga, e go don dey smell by now—e don die four days.”

⁴⁰Jesus talk give am, “I no tell you say: if you believe you go see di glory of our Papa?”

⁴¹So dem comot di stone. Jesus look up come talk say, “Papa, I thank you say you hear me. ⁴²I know say you dey always hear me, but na because of di crowd wey stand here I talk dis one, so dat dem go believe say na you send me.” ⁴³Wen e don talk dis one, e shout with loud voice, “Lazarus, comot!”

⁴⁴Di dead man comot, im leg and hand still tie with linen cloth, and dem wrap im face with cloth. Jesus talk give dem, “Loose am; make e go.”

Di Council Gada

⁴⁵So plenty of di Jews wey come meet Mary and see wetin Jesus do, believe for am. ⁴⁶But some of dem go meet di Pharisees go tell dem wetin Jesus don do. ⁴⁷So di chief priests and Pharisees gada di council come talk say, “Wetin we dey do? Dis man dey perform plenty sign. ⁴⁸If we leave am alone, everybody go believe for am, and di Romans go come take away both our place and our nation.”

⁴⁹But one of dem, Caiaphas, wey be high priest for dat year, tell dem, “Una no sabi anytin at all. ⁵⁰Una no see say e beta for una make one man die for di people pass make di whole nation perish?” ⁵¹No be im own mind e take talk dis one; as e be high priest for dat year, e prophesy say Jesus go die for di nation, ⁵²no be for di nation alone, but sef to gada into one di children of our Papa wey scatter. ^b b v52 Caiaphas talk beta pass wetin e sabi. Jesus for die no be just for di Jewish nation, but to gada every scatter pikin of our Papa into one family. ⁵³So from dat day, dem begin plan how to kill am. ⁵⁴So Jesus no dey waka openly among di Jews again, but e comot go one town wey dem dey call Ephraim wey dey near di wilderness, come stay dia with im disciples.

⁵⁵Di Jews Passover don near, and plenty people go up from di country go Jerusalem before am to purify demsef. ⁵⁶So dem dey look for Jesus, dem dey ask each oda as dem stand for di temple, “Wetin una tink? Abi e no go come di feast at all?” ⁵⁷Di chief priests and Pharisees don give order say anybody wey sabi wia e dey must report am, so dat dem go fit arrest am.
