♥ Wetin people talk

John 8

Book
Chapter 8.

But Jesus waka go di Mount of Olives.

For early morning, e come back go di temple; all di people come meet am, and e sidon dey teach dem. Di scribes and di Pharisees bring one woman wey dem catch dey do adultery, and dem make her stand for di middle. dem tell am, “Teacher, dem catch dis woman as she dey do adultery. For di Law, Moses command us say make we stone woman like dis wit stone. So wetin you talk?” Dem talk dis one to test am, dey find something wey dem go take accuse am. But Jesus bend down, dey write for ground wit im finger.

As dem no gree stop to dey question am, e stand up and tell dem, “Any one of una wey no get sin, make e throw di first stone give her.”

And e bend down again, dey write for ground.

As dem hear dis, dem begin comot one by one, starting from di oldest one, until na only Jesus remain wit di woman wey still dey stand there.

Jesus stand up and tell her, “Woman, where dem dey? Nobody condemn you?”

She talk say, “Nobody, Oga.” Jesus talk, “Me sef no condemn you. Go, and from now, no do sin again.”

Na Me Be di Light of di World

Jesus talk to dem again: “Na Me be di light of di world. Anybody wey follow Me no go ever waka for darkness, but e go get di light of life.”

So di Pharisees tell am, “You dey talk witness about your own self; your testimony no be true.”

Jesus answer, “Even if I talk witness about My own self, My testimony na true, because I know where I comot and where I dey go; but una no know where I comot or where I dey go. Una dey judge according to di flesh; Me I no dey judge anybody. Even if I judge, My judgment na true, because I no dey judge alone, but na Me and di Papa wey send Me. For una Law, dem write am say di testimony of two people na true. I dey talk witness about My own self, and di Papa wey send Me dey talk witness about Me.”

Dem ask, “Where your Papa dey?” Jesus answer, “Una no know Me, una no know My Papa. If una know Me, una for don know My Papa too.”

E talk dis one as e dey teach for di temple, for di treasury place; but nobody catch am—because im time never reach.

So e tell dem again, “I dey go. Una go find Me, and una go die inside una sin. Where I dey go, una no fit come.”

From Ground, From Up

So di Jews talk, ‘Abi e wan kill imself, since e dey talk say, “Una no fit come where I dey go”?’

E tell dem, “Una comot from ground; Me I comot from up. Una be of dis world; Me I no be of dis world. I tell una say una go die inside una sins; if una no believe say I AM, una go die inside una sins.” a a v24 Jesus dey claim di divine name. “I AM” na how our Papa take tell Moses who E be for di bush wey dey burn (Exodus 3:14). Di crowd come understand di claim later for dis chapter and dem try to stone am because of blasphemy (v.59).

So dem tell am, “Who exactly be you?” Jesus tell dem, “Na exactly wetin I don dey talk from di beginning.

I get plenty thing to talk and judge about una, but di One wey send Me na true; and wetin I hear from Am, na im I dey tell di world.”

Dem no understand say na about di Papa e dey talk to dem.

So Jesus tell dem, “When una go lift up di Pikin of Man, na den una go know say I AM, and say I no dey do anything by My own self, but I dey talk dis things just as di Papa teach Me. Di One wey send Me dey wit Me; E never leave Me alone, because I dey always do wetin dey please Am.”

Stay Inside My Word

As e dey talk dis things, plenty people believe for Am.

So Jesus tell di Jews wey believe am, “If una stay inside My word, na true-true una be My disciples, and una go know di truth, and di truth go set una free.”

Dem answer am, “We be Abraham pikin dem, we never be slave to anybody. How you fit talk say, ‘Una go become free’?”

Jesus answer dem, “True-true, true-true, I dey tell una: everybody wey dey continue to sin na slave to sin. Di slave no dey stay for di house forever; but di pikin dey stay forever. So if di Pikin set una free, una go free well-well. I know say una be Abraham pikin dem; but una wan kill Me because My word no get space inside una. I dey talk wetin I don see wit My Papa, and una dey do wetin una hear from una papa.”

Dem answer, “Abraham na our papa.” Jesus talk, “If una be Abraham pikin dem, una for dey do di works wey Abraham do. But now una wan kill Me — Man wey tell una di truth wey I hear from My Papa. Abraham no do dis kind thing. Una dey do di works of una papa.” Dem tell am, “We no be pikin wey dem born through sexual sin. We get one Papa—na God imself.”

Jesus tell dem, “If God na una Papa, una for love Me, because I comot from God and I dey here. I no come by My own self — na E send Me. Why una no understand wetin I dey talk? Na because una no fit bear to hear My word. Una belong to una papa, di devil, and una wan carry out wetin e want. From di beginning e be person wey dey kill people, e no dey stand inside truth, because no truth dey inside am. When e lie, e dey talk from im own nature, because e be liar and na di papa of lie. b b v44 Jesus call di first lie of Eden by name. Di serpent wey tell Eve say our Papa dey hold back good thing from her — di serpent wey imself don reject di Papa — na di first liar, di papa of every lie wey dey paint our Papa as somebody wey dey far. Anybody wey reject di Pikin share dat papa, no be Abraham, no be God. But because I dey talk truth, una no dey believe Me. Who among una fit prove say I get sin? If I dey talk truth, why una no dey believe Me? Anybody wey be of our Papa dey hear im words; una no dey hear because una no be of our Papa.”

Di Jews answer, “Abi we no talk correct say you be Samaritan wey demon dey inside am?”

Jesus answer, “I no get demon, but I dey honor My Papa, and una dey shame Me. But Me I no dey find My own glory; na our Papa dey find am, and na E dey judge. True-true, true-true, I dey tell una, if anybody keep My word, e no go ever see death.”

Di Jews tell am, “Now we know say demon dey inside you. Abraham die, di prophets sef die, but you dey talk, ‘Anybody wey keep My word no go ever taste death.’ You big pass our papa Abraham, wey die? Di prophets sef die! Who you dey claim to be?”

Jesus answer, “If I glorify My own self, My glory na notin. Na My Papa dey glorify Me, di One wey una dey talk say, ‘Na our God E be.’ Una no know Am, but Me I know Am. If I talk say I no know Am, I for be liar like una. But I know Am and I dey keep im word. Una papa Abraham rejoice say e go see My day. E see am and e glad.”

So di Jews tell am, “You never reach fifty years, and you don see Abraham?”

Jesus tell dem, “True-true, true-true, I dey tell una, before Abraham come be, I AM.” c c v58 ‘I AM’ dey echo God name to Moses (Exodus 3:14) — na claim to be God, na why dem grab stone.

So dem grab stone wey dem wan throw for am, but Jesus hide imself and comot go outside di temple.
