John 19

19 ¹Den Pilate take Jesus go flog am well well. ²Di soldiers weave crown wey dem make with ton, put am for im head, and wrap purple robe round am. ³Dem dey come near am dey talk say, “Hail, King of di Jews!” and dey slap im face.

⁴Pilate come comot again come tell dem, “Look, I dey bring am comot give una, so una go know say I no see any fault for am.” ⁵So Jesus comot, dey wear di crown of ton and di purple robe. Pilate tell dem, “See di man!”

⁶Wen di chief priests and di guards see am, dem shout say, “Nail am for cross! Nail am for cross!” Pilate tell dem, “Una carry am una self go nail am for cross, because I no see any guilt for am.”

⁷Di Jews answer am say, “We get law; and by dat law e suppose die, because e make imself di Pikin of God.”

⁸Wen Pilate hear dis one, fear catch am pass before. ⁹E go inside im headquarters again come ask Jesus, “Na wia you comot?” But Jesus no answer am anytin. ¹⁰So Pilate tell am, “You no wan talk to me? You no know say I get power to release you, and power to nail you for cross?”

¹¹Jesus answer am say, “You for no get any power over me at all if dem no give you am from up. Na dat make di one wey hand me over give you carry di bigger sin.”

¹²From dat time, Pilate dey try to release am, but di Jews shout say, “If you release am, you no be Caesar friend. Anybody wey make imself king dey stand against Caesar.”

Dem Hand Am Over

Joseph and Nicodemus

³⁸Afta dis, Joseph of Arimathea—wey be disciple of Jesus, but for hidden, because e dey fear di Jews—beg Pilate make e allow am comot Jesus body. Pilate gree, so e come comot am. ³⁹Nicodemus, wey first come meet Jesus for night, also come, dey bring mixture of myrrh and aloes, around seventy-five pound. ⁴⁰Dem take Jesus body wrap am inside linen cloth with di spices, as di Jewish burial custom be. ⁴¹For di place wey dem nail am for cross garden dey dia, and inside di garden na new tomb wey dem neva put anybody inside before. ⁴²Because na di Jewish Preparation day, and di tomb dey near, dem lay Jesus for dia.
