John 19

19 ¹ Den Pilate carry Jesus go flog am. ² Di soldier dem weave one crown of thorn, put am for im head, and wrap purple cloth roun am. ³ Dem come dey come meet am, dey talk say, "Make di King of di Jews dem live long!" and dem slap im face.

⁴ Pilate come comot again, tell dem, "Look, I dey bring am comot give una, so wey una go know say I no see any fault for am." ⁵ So Jesus comot, dey wear di thorn crown and di purple cloth. Pilate tell dem, "See di man!"

⁶ Wen di chief priest dem and di guard dem see am, dem shout, "Nail am for cross! Nail am for cross!" Pilate tell dem, "Una carry am una self go nail am, bicos I no see any guilt for am."

⁷ Di Jews dem answer am, ‘We get law; and by dat law e suppose die, bicos e make imself di Pikin of God.’

⁸ Wen Pilate hear dis one, im fear come plenty pass. ⁹ Im enter im headquarters again, ask Jesus, "Na wia you comot from?" But Jesus no answer am anytin. ¹⁰ So Pilate tell am, "You no go tok give me? You no know say I get power to release you, and power to nail you for cross?"

Joseph and Nicodemus

³⁸ Afta dat, Joseph of Arimathea—wey be disciple of Jesus, but for secret, bicos im dey fear di Jews dem—beg Pilate make im carry Jesus im bodi comot.
