Genesis 24

24 ¹Now Abraham don old, im years don plenty well well, and our Papa don bless Abraham for everytin. ²Abraham talk to im oldest servant, wey dey manage everytin wey e get, say, "Abeg put your hand for under my thigh, ^a a v2 To put hand for under person thigh na di ancient way dem take seal one serious, binding oath. ³I go make you swear by di Papa of heaven and earth, say you no go take wife for my son from di Canaan people daughters, wey I dey live among dem, ⁴but you go go my own country and my people, and get wife for my son Isaac."

⁵Di servant ask am, "Wetin go happen if di woman no gree follow me come dis land? I go need to carry your son go back to di land wey you comot from?"

⁶Abraham talk to am, "Make you sure say you no carry my son go back dia. ⁷Our Papa, di Papa of heaven, wey take me comot from my papa house and di land of my people, wey talk to me and swear give me say, 'I go give dis land to your pikin dem'—na im go send im angel go your front, and you go take wife for my son from dia. ⁸But if di woman no gree follow you, dis my oath no go hold you again; only make you no carry my son go back dia."

¹⁵Before e finish talk, Rebekah comot—daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, Abraham brother—her jar dey for her shoulder. ¹⁶Di girl fine well well, na virgin wey no man never know. She go down go di spring, fill her jar, and come up. ¹⁷Di servant run go meet am, e talk say, "Abeg make I sip small water from your jar."

¹⁸"Drink, my oga," she talk, and quick quick she bring down her jar from her shoulder and give am water drink. ¹⁹Wen she finish give am drink, she talk say, "I go draw water for your camel dem too, until dem finish drink." ²⁰Quick quick she empty her jar inside di trough, run go di well again, and draw water for all im camel dem.

²¹Di man dey watch her quietly, to know if our Papa don make im journey succeed, abi no. ²²Wen di camel dem finish drink, di man take one gold nose ring wey weigh like one-fifth of ounce, and two gold bangle for her wrist wey weigh like four ounce, ²³and e talk say, "You be who daughter? Abeg tell me, room dey for your papa house make we spend di night?"

²⁴She answer am, "I be di daughter of Bethuel, di son wey Milcah born for Nahor." ²⁵She still talk say, "We get plenty straw and feed, and room to spend di night."

²⁸Den di young woman run go tell her mama household about dis tins. ²⁹Now Rebekah get one brother wey im name na Laban, and Laban run comot go meet di man for di spring. ³⁰Wen e see di nose ring and di bangle for im sister wrist, and hear im sister Rebekah talk say, "Na so di man tell me," e comot go meet di man—see am dia, e stand near di camel dem for di spring. ³¹E talk say, "Come inside, you wey God don bless. Why you dey stand outside? I don prepare di house and place for di camel dem." ³²Di man enter di house, and dem offload di camel dem. Dem give di camel straw and feed, and water to wash im feet and di feet of di men wey dey with am. ³³Dem put food for im front, but e talk say, "I no go chop until I don talk wetin I get to talk." "Talk am," Laban say.

³⁴So e talk say, "I be Abraham servant. ³⁵Our Papa don bless my master well well and make am rich, e give am flock, cattle, silver, gold, male and female servant, camel, and donkey. ³⁶Sarah, my master wife, born am one son for her old age; Abraham don give Isaac everytin wey e get. ³⁷My master make me swear say, 'No take wife for my son from di Canaan women wey I dey live for dia land, ³⁸but go my papa house, to my people, and take wife for my son.' ³⁹I talk to my master say, 'Maybe di woman no go gree follow me.' ⁴⁰But e talk to me say, 'Our Papa, wey I don waka before am, go send im angel with you and make your journey succeed, and you go take wife for my son from my clan and from my papa house. ⁴¹Den you go free from my oath once you reach my family; if dem refuse to give her to you, you go free from my oath.' ⁴²Today wen I reach di spring, I talk say, 'Papa of my master Abraham, if you go make my journey succeed, ⁴³see me, I stand here near di water spring. So wen one young woman comot come draw water and I talk to her say, "Abeg give me small water from your jar make I drink," ⁴⁴and she talk to me say, "Drink, and I go draw water for your camel dem too"—make she be di woman wey our Papa appoint for my master son.' ⁴⁵Before I finish pray for my heart, Rebekah comot, her jar dey for her shoulder, she go down go di spring, and draw water. I talk to her say, 'Abeg make I drink.' ⁴⁶Quick quick she bring down her jar from her shoulder, she talk say, 'Drink—I go water your camel dem too.' So I drink, and she water di camel dem too. ⁴⁷I ask, 'You be who daughter?' She talk say, 'Bethuel daughter, son of Nahor, wey Milcah born for am.' Den I put di ring for her nose and di bangle for her wrist. ⁴⁸I bow and worship our Papa, and bless di Papa of my master Abraham, wey lead me for di true path to take di daughter of my master relative for im son. ⁴⁹Now, if you go deal with faithful love and truth with my master, tell me; if no, tell me, so I fit turn right or left."

⁵⁰Laban and Bethuel answer, "Dis tin come from God; we no fit talk good or bad. ⁵¹Rebekah dey your front; take her go—make she be your master son wife, as our Papa don talk."

⁵²Wen Abraham servant hear their words, e bow down for di ground before our Papa. ⁵³Di servant bring out silver and gold tins and cloth, give dem to Rebekah, and give costly gifts to her brother and mama. ⁵⁴Im and di men wey dey with am chop, drink, and spend di night dia. For morning dem wake up, and e talk say, "Send me go my master."

⁵⁵But her brother and her mama talk say, "Make di young woman stay with us like ten days or so; den she fit go."

⁵⁶But e talk say, "No delay me—our Papa don make my journey succeed. Send me go, make I go my master."

⁵⁷Dem talk say, "Make we call di young woman and ask her about am." ⁵⁸Dem call Rebekah and ask, "You go go with dis man?" "I go go," she talk.

⁵⁹So dem send off their sister Rebekah and her nurse, together with Abraham servant and im men. ⁶⁰Dem bless Rebekah, dem talk say, "Our sister, make you become mama of thousands upon thousands; make your pikin dem capture di cities of dose wey hate dem." ^c c v60 To hold enemy gate na to hold their power; di blessing dey pray say Rebekah pikin dem go win over dose wey stand against dem.

⁶¹Rebekah and her attendants get up, climb di camel dem, and follow di man. So di servant take Rebekah and go.

⁶²Now Isaac don come from Beer-lahai-roi, because e dey live for di Negev. ⁶³Isaac comot go meditate for di field for evening time; wen e look up, e see camel dem dey come. ⁶⁴Rebekah too look up, and wen she see Isaac, she come down from her camel. ⁶⁵She ask di servant, "Na who be dat man wey dey waka across di field come meet us?" "Na my master," e answer. So she take her veil and cover herself.

⁶⁶Den di servant tell Isaac everytin wey e don do. ⁶⁷Isaac carry her enter im mama Sarah tent, marry Rebekah, and love her. So Isaac get comfort after im mama death.
