Di pipol dey crave meat, dem dey cry for Egypt, and Moses tell im Papa straight say e no fit carry dem alone. E get two answer: di Spirit wey dem share give seventy elders, and quail wey plenty reach to punish — dem get di meat, and plague for di place wey dem bury di craving.

Chapter 11.

Di people begin complain about di hardship wey dem dey face for place wey our Papa fit hear; e hear dem, im anger burn, and di fire of our Papa blaze inside dem, dey chop di edge of di camp. Di people cry go meet Moses, Moses pray to our Papa, and di fire quench. So dem call dat place Taberah, because di fire of our Papa blaze inside dem. a a v3 Taberah mean "burning" — dem name di place after di fire wey break out for there.

Di mixed crowd wey dey among dem begin crave well-well; di people of Israel too begin cry again, dey talk say, "If only we get meat to chop! We dey remember di fish wey we chop for Egypt for free, di cucumber, di melon, di leek, di onion, and di garlic. But now our appetite don finish; nothing dey at all wey we fit see except dis manna." Now di manna be like coriander seed, and e resemble pale resin. b b v7 Bdellium na pale, pearl-like resin or gum — di manna get dat same see-through look. Di people dey waka around dey gather am, dey grind am for mill or crush am for mortar, dey boil am for pot, and dey mould am into cake. E taste like pastry wey dem make with oil. Wen di dew fall on di camp for night, di manna dey fall with am.

Moses hear di people dey cry by dem clans, each one for di door of im tent. Di anger of our Papa burn well-well, and e no sweet Moses at all. Moses tell our Papa, "Why you don treat your servant bad like dis? Why I no find favour with you, wey make you put di burden of all dis people on top me? Na me carry belle of all dis people? Na me born dem, wey make you go tell me say, 'Carry dem for your hand, di way person wey dey mind pikin dey carry di baby wey still dey suck breast,' go di land wey you swear say you go give dem ancestors? Where I go get meat give all dis people? Dem dey cry come meet me, dey talk say, 'Give us meat to chop!' I no fit carry all dis people by myself; e too heavy for me. If na so you go treat me, abeg kill me now—if I don find favour for your eyes—make I no see my own suffer."

Our Papa Share Di Spirit Give Seventy People

Den our Papa tell Moses, "Gather for me seventy men from di elders of Israel, wey you sabi as elders and officers of di people, and bring dem come di meeting tent, make dem stand there with you. I go come down, talk with you for there, take some of di Spirit wey dey on top you, and put am on dem. Dem go carry di burden of di people with you, so you no go carry am alone.

Tell di people: Dedicate una self for tomorrow—una go chop meat. Una cry for place wey our Papa fit hear, dey talk say, 'If only we get meat to chop! We dey better for Egypt.' So our Papa go give una meat, and una go chop. No be one day, no be two, no be five, no be ten, no be twenty days una go chop am, but a whole month, until e come comot for una nose and e begin make una vomit—because una reject our Papa wey dey among una, dey cry for im front, dey talk say, 'Why we come comot for Egypt at all?'"

Moses talk, "Di people wey I dey with na 600,000 for foot, yet you talk say, 'I go give dem meat to chop for a whole month'?" You fit kill flock and herd to satisfy dem? You fit gather all di fish of di sea to satisfy dem?

Our Papa tell Moses, "My hand too short? Now you go see whether my word go come true for you or no."

Moses comot go tell di people di words of our Papa. E gather seventy men from di elders of di people, and put dem around di tent. Den our Papa come down inside di cloud, talk to am, take some of di Spirit wey dey on top am, and put am on di seventy elders. Wen di Spirit rest on dem, dem prophesy—but dem no do am again. Two men still remain for di camp, one dem dey call Eldad, di other one Medad, and di Spirit rest on dem—dem dey among di ones wey dem register but dem no comot go di tent—yet dem prophesy for di camp. One young man run go report to Moses, "Eldad and Medad dey prophesy for di camp."

Joshua di pikin of Nun, wey be Moses assistant from im young days, talk: "My oga Moses, stop dem!"

But Moses answer, "You dey jealous for my sake? I wish say all di people of our Papa na prophets, wey our Papa go put im Spirit on dem!"

Den Moses go back to di camp, im and di elders of Israel.

Quail Come From our Papa, Plague For Di Craving

Wind comot from our Papa, drive quail come from di sea, and drop dem around di camp—like one day journey for each side, like three feet deep on di ground. Di people wake up for dat whole day, di whole night, and di whole next day dey gather di quail—di one wey gather small pass gather sixty bushel—den dem spread am all out for demself around di camp. c c v32 One homer na big dry measure — like di load wey donkey fit carry, about 220 litres; ten homer na plenty haul well-well. Wen di meat still dey between dem teeth, dem never even chew am finish, di anger of our Papa burn against di people, and our Papa strike dem with plague wey heavy well-well. Dem call dat place Kibroth-hattaavah, because na there dem bury di people wey crave. d d v34 Kibroth-hattaavah mean "graves of craving" — dem name am after di ones wey dem bury for there after di people greed for meat.

From Kibroth-hattaavah di people comot go Hazeroth, and dem stay for Hazeroth.
