Matthew 5

Una Be Salt and Light

Make Peace With Your Brother First

Clean Heart Dey Start for Inside

Pass di Eye-for-Eye Way

³⁸"Una don hear say dem talk am say, 'Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.' ³⁹But I dey tell una: no fight back di person wey dey do evil. If somebody slap your right cheek, turn di oda one give am too. ⁴⁰If anybody wan take you go court and collect your shirt, make e collect your coat too. ⁴¹And if anybody force you make you waka one mile, waka two with am. ⁴²Give anybody wey ask you, and no turn your back for anybody wey wan borrow from you.

Love Your Enemy Like He Dey Do

⁴³"Una don hear say dem talk am say, 'You go love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' ⁴⁴But I dey tell una, love una enemies and pray for dem wey dey persecute una, ⁴⁵so una go fit become children of una Papa wey dey for heaven, because e dey make im sun rise for evil and good people, and e dey send rain for di just and di unjust. ⁴⁶If una love only dem wey love una, wetin be di reward for dat? Even di tax collectors, no be di same thing dem dey do? ⁴⁷If una greet only una brothers, wetin una dey do wey pass oda people? Even di Gentiles, no be so dem dey do? ⁴⁸So make una perfect, just as una Papa wey dey for heaven perfect."
