Genesis 19

19 ¹Di two angels come reach Sodom for dat evening; Lot bin siddon for Sodom gate. ³But e beg dem well well, so dem turn come meet am, dem enter im house. E make big feast for dem, e bake bread wey no get yeast, and dem chop. ⁴Before dem lie down, di men of di city—Sodom men—young and old, all di people, nobody comot, surround di house. ⁵Dem call Lot say, “Where di men wey come meet you tonight? Bring dem come out—make we sleep with dem.”

⁶Lot comot go meet dem for di door, e close di door for im back, ⁷and e talk say, “Abeg, my brothers, no do dis bad thing. ⁸I get two daughters wey never know man. Make I bring dem come out give una—do dem wetin una like. But no do anything to dis men; dem don enter under di protection of my roof.”

⁹Dem talk say, “Comot for road!” Den dem talk say, “Dis outsider come stay here, and now e wan judge us? We go do you worse pass dem.” Dem push Lot well well, and dem move near to break di door. ¹⁰But di men stretch dem hand, dem pull Lot enter di house join dem, and dem lock di door. ¹¹Dem strike di men wey dey di house door blind, from small to big, till dem tire demsef as dem dey find di door.

¹²Di men talk to Lot say, “Who else you get for here—son-in-law, sons, daughters, anybody for di city wey na your own? Bring dem comot for dis place. ¹³We dey about to destroy dis place - di cry against im people don grow big for front of our Papa, and our Papa send us come destroy am.”

¹⁴Lot comot go talk to im sons-in-law, wey don promise to marry im daughters: “Wake up, comot for dis place—our Papa dey about to destroy di city!” But im sons-in-law take am as joke.

¹⁵As day dey break, di angels dey push Lot say, “Wake up, take your wife and your two daughters wey dey here, or dem go sweep you comot with di punishment of di city.” ¹⁶E dey slow, so di men grab im hand, im wife own, and im two daughters own, as our Papa belle dey pain am for am, and dem bring am comot, dem leave am outside di city. ¹⁷As dem bring dem come outside, one of dem talk say, “Run comot to save your life! No look back or stop anywhere for di valley. Run go di hills, or dem go sweep you comot.”

¹⁸But Lot talk to dem say, “No, abeg, my Sovereign Papa. ¹⁹Your servant don find favour with you; you don show me plenty kindness as you save my life. But I no fit run go di hills—wahala go catch me and I go die. ²⁰Abeg—dat town dey near, e small enough make person fit run reach am. Make I escape go there—no be small e small?—so I go fit live.”

²¹E talk to am say, “I grant dis favour too: I no go destroy di town wey you talk about. ²²Make you hurry, run go there—I no fit do anything until you reach.” Na why dem call di town Zoar. ^b b v22 Zoar mean “small” — Lot name di town after im own begging say na “only small one.”

²⁹As our Papa destroy di cities of di plain, our Papa remember Abraham and e bring Lot comot from di destruction of di cities where Lot bin dey live.

Lot for Inside Cave

³⁰Lot go up from Zoar go live for di mountains with im two daughters, because e dey fear to stay for Zoar; e and im two daughters live for inside cave. ³¹Di firstborn talk to di younger one say, “Our papa don old; no man remain for di land wey go fit sleep with us, as e dey happen everywhere. ³²Come, make we give our papa wine, den sleep with am, and keep pikin alive through our papa.” ³³Dat night dem give dem papa wine; di firstborn enter go lie with am. E no know when she lie down or when she wake up. ³⁴Di next day di firstborn talk to di younger one say, “I sleep with my papa last night. Make we give am wine again tonight—go sleep with am, so we go keep pikin from our papa.” ³⁵Dat night too dem make dem papa drink wine; di younger one wake up go sleep with am, and e no know when she lie down or when she wake up. ³⁶So di two daughters of Lot come get belle for dem papa. ³⁷Di firstborn born a son, she name am Moab—na im be papa of di Moabites till today. ³⁸Di younger one too born a son and she name am Ben-Ammi—na im be papa of di Ammonites till today.
