Chapter 9.

9 ¹E tell dem say, “Na true I dey tell una: some people wey stand for here no go taste death before dem go see di kingdom of our Papa come with power.”

²After six days, Jesus carry Peter, James, and John, and lead dem go up one high mountain, dem alone, and E change for dem front. ³Im cloth begin shine, dey bright white well-well—white pass wetin anybody for earth fit wash am reach. ⁴And Elijah appear to dem together with Moses, and dem dey talk with Jesus.

⁵Peter tell Jesus, “Rabbi, e good say we dey here. Make we build three shelter—one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” ⁶E no know wetin e go talk, because fear catch dem well-well.

⁷One cloud appear come cover dem, and one voice comot from di cloud say: “Na dis one be my beloved Pikin. Make una hear am!”

⁸One time, wen dem look around, dem no see anybody again with dem except Jesus.

Faith of One Papa Wey Dey Desperate

¹⁴As dem come reach di oda disciples, dem see plenty crowd around di disciples, and scribes dey argue with dem. ¹⁵As di whole crowd just see Jesus, wonder catch dem and dem run go greet Am.

¹⁶E ask dem, “Wetin una and di scribes dey argue about?”

¹⁷Person for inside di crowd answer Am, “Teacher, I bring my son come meet You; e get one spirit wey no dey let am talk. ¹⁸Anytime e grab am, e dey throw am for ground. E dey foam for mouth, dey grind im teeth, and im body dey stiff. I beg Your disciples make dem drive am comot, but dem no fit.”

¹⁹E answer, “Una generation wey no get faith, how long I go still dey with una? How long I go endure una? Bring am come meet me.”

²⁰Dem bring di boy come meet Am. As di spirit see Jesus, e sharp-sharp shake am well-well; e fall for ground, dey roll and dey foam for mouth.

²¹Jesus ask di boy im papa, “How long dis one don dey happen to am?” E talk say, “Since e be small pikin.

²²Plenty time e don throw am inside fire and water to kill am. But if You fit do anything, make Your belle dey pain us and help us.”

²³Jesus tell am, “‘If You fit’? Everything possible for di person wey dey believe.”

²⁴Sharp-sharp di boy im papa cry out, “I believe; help my no-believe!”

²⁵As Jesus see say crowd dey run come togeda, E rebuke di unclean spirit: “Spirit wey dey dumb and deaf, na me dey command you—comot from am and no enter am again forever!”

²⁶E cry out and shake am hard-hard, den e comot. Di boy just be like dead body, so plenty people talk say, “E don die.” ²⁷But Jesus hold am for hand and raise am up, and e stand.

²⁸Wen Jesus don enter inside house, im disciples ask Am for hidden place, “Why we no fit drive am comot?”

²⁹E tell dem, “Dis kind fit comot only by prayer.”

The Pikin of Man Must Die

³⁰Dem comot from there and pass through Galilee. Jesus no want make anybody know where dem dey,

³¹because E dey teach im disciples, dey tell dem, “Dem dey hand di Pikin of Man over into human hand. Dem go kill Am, and after three days E go rise.”

³²But dem no understand wetin E mean, and dem dey fear to ask Am.

The Person Wey Small Pass Go Big Pass

³³Dem come reach Capernaum. For inside di house E ask dem, “Wetin una dey argue about for road?”

³⁴But dem keep quiet, because for di road dem bin dey argue about who big pass.

³⁵E sidon, call di Twelve, and tell dem, “Anybody wey wan be first must be last of all and servant of all.”

³⁶E take one small pikin, stand am for dem middle, carry di pikin for im hand, and tell dem:

³⁷“Whoever accept one of dis small pikin dem for my name accept me; and whoever accept me no be me e accept but di One wey send me.”

For Us, No Be Against Us

³⁸John tell Am, “Teacher, we see person wey dey drive demon comot for Your name and we try to stop am, because e no dey follow us.”

³⁹But Jesus talk, “No stop am—nobody wey do miracle for my name fit quick talk bad thing about me. ⁴⁰Because whoever no dey against us dey for us. ⁴¹Na true I dey tell una, whoever give una one cup of water make una drink because una belong to Christ no go lose im reward at all.

No Make Di Small Ones Waka Comot Road

⁴²Whoever make one of dis small ones wey believe for me fall—e go better make dem hang big grinding stone for im neck and throw am inside sea. ⁴³If your hand dey make you fall, cut am comot. ⁴⁹Because dem go salt everybody with fire. ⁵⁰Salt good, but if e lose im saltiness, how una go make am salt again? Keep salt for una body, and dey for peace with each oda.”
