Luke 20

20 ¹For one of dem days, as Jesus dey teach di people for inside temple and dey preach di good news, di chief priests and di scribes come meet am with di elders, ²and dem ask am say, "Tell us, na wetin authority you take dey do dis tins, abi na who give you dis authority."

³E answer dem say, "I too go ask una one question. Tell me: ⁴John baptism, e come from heaven, abi from man?"

⁵Dem begin dey reason among demsef say: "If we talk say, 'From heaven,' e go say, 'Why una no believe am?' ⁶But if we talk say 'From man,' all di people go stone us, because dem sure well well say John na prophet." ⁷So dem answer say dem no know where e come from.

⁸And Jesus talk to dem say, "Me too, I no go tell una na wetin authority I take dey do dis tins."

Di Papa Send Im Beloved Pikin

⁹E begin dey tell di people dis parable: One man plant vineyard, e rent am give some farmers, den e travel go far country for long time. ¹⁰"For harvest time, e send one servant go meet di farmers wey dey work di land, make dem give am im own share of di fruit of di vineyard, but dem beat am and send am comot with empty hand. ¹¹E send anoda servant; dem beat am too, dem shame am, and send am comot with empty hand. ¹²And e still send di third one, but dem wound dis one too and throway am comot. ¹³Di owner of di vineyard talk say, 'Wetin I go do? I go send my beloved pikin; maybe dem go respect am.'

¹⁴But wen di farmers see am, dem reason among demsef say: 'Na dis one be di heir. Make we kill am, so dat di inheritance go be our own.' ¹⁵Dem throway am comot for di vineyard and kill am. So wetin di owner of di vineyard go come do dem?

¹⁶"E go come, destroy dose farmers, and give di vineyard to oda people." Wen dem hear dis, dem say, "E no fit be so!"

¹⁷E look dem straight for eye and ask, "Den wetin be dis tin wey dem write: 'Di stone wey di builders throway na im become di cornerstone'? ^a a v17 Na from Psalm 118:22 dem take dis one. ¹⁸Everybody wey fall on top dat stone go break into pieces, and wen e fall on top anybody, e go crush am."

Give Caesar Wetin Be Caesar Own, Give di Papa Wetin Be Im Own

¹⁹Di scribes and di chief priests wan arrest am dat same time, because dem sabi say na against dem e talk dis parable—but dem fear di people. ²⁰Dem dey watch am well well, dem send spies wey pretend say dem be correct people, so dem fit catch am for im talk, make dem fit hand am over to di power and authority of di governor. ²¹Dem ask am say, "Teacher, we know say you dey talk and dey teach di correct tin, you no dey take side for anybody, but you dey teach God way true true. ²²E dey lawful make we pay tax give Caesar, abi e no dey?"

²³But e see through dem craze and talk say,

²⁴"Show me coin wey worth one day pay. Na who image and name dey on top am?" Dem say, "Na Caesar own."

²⁵E talk to dem say, "Den give Caesar wetin be Caesar own, and give our Papa wetin be our Papa own."

²⁶Dem no fit trap am for im talk for front of di people, and dem wonder for im answer, dem come keep quiet.

Di Papa Na God of Di People Wey Dey Alive

²⁷Some Sadducees, wey dey deny say resurrection dey, come meet am and ask am, ²⁸"Teacher, Moses write for us say: if man die and leave wife but no pikin, im broda must marry di widow and born pikin for am. ^b b v28 Dis one dey talk about di levirate marriage law wey dem write for Deuteronomy 25:5–6. ²⁹Now, seven brodas dey. ³⁴And Jesus talk to dem say, "Di people of dis age dey marry and dem dey give dem for marriage,

³⁵"But dose wey dem count worthy to reach dat age and di resurrection from di dead no dey marry, and dem no dey give dem for marriage. ³⁶Because dem no fit die again, since dem be like angels and pikin of our Papa, pikin of di resurrection. ³⁷But even Moses sef show say dem dey raise di dead, for di bush passage, wen e call our Papa di God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob. ^c c v37 Di story of di bush wey dey burn dey for Exodus 3:2–6. ³⁸E no be God of di dead but of di living, because everybody dey alive to am."

³⁹Den some of di scribes answer say, "Teacher, you don talk well." ⁴⁰Because dem no get liver again to ask am anytin.

⁴¹But e talk to dem say, "How dem take fit talk say di Christ na di son of David?

⁴²Because David imsef talk for di Psalms say, 'Our Papa talk to my Lord say, "Sidon for my right hand, ^d d v42 Na from Psalm 110:1 dem take dis one. ⁴³until I go make your enemies footstool for your leg."'

⁴⁴So David call am Lord—how e take be im son?"

⁴⁵As all di people dey listen, e talk to im disciples say,

⁴⁶"Make una dey watch out for di scribes, wey like to waka for long robe, and dem love make people greet dem for market, and di best seat for synagogue, and di place of honor for feast, ⁴⁷wey dey chop widow house finish and dey pray long prayer just for show. Dem go receive greater judgment."
