Luke 19

19 ¹Jesus enter Jericho, e dey pass through di town. ²Man dey there wey im name na Zacchaeus; na oga for di tax collector dem, and e rich well well. ³E wan see who Jesus be, but e no fit because of di crowd—as e short reach. ⁴So e run go front, e climb one sycamore tree so e go fit see am, because Jesus wan pass for that road.

⁵When Jesus reach di place, e look up, e tell am, “Zacchaeus, come down sharp-sharp, because I must stay for your house today.”

⁶So e come down quick-quick, e welcome am with joy. ⁷When everybody see am, dem begin murmur, “E don go stay with man wey be sinner.”

⁸Zacchaeus stand up, e tell di Oga, “See, Oga, I dey give half of everything I get to poor people, and if I don cheat anybody, I go pay am back four times as much.”

⁹Jesus tell am, “Today, salvation don come to dis house, because dis man too na pikin of Abraham. ¹⁰Because di Pikin of Man come to look for and to save di people wey lost.”

Servant Wey Dey Faithful Dey Wait For di King

¹¹As dem still dey listen, e add one parable, because e don near Jerusalem and dem think say di kingdom of our Papa go show sharp-sharp.

¹²So e talk, “One big man travel go far country to receive kingdom for himself, come back. ¹³E call ten of im servant dem, e give each one money wey reach about three months pay, e talk, ‘Take dis one do business until I come back.’ ¹⁴But im people hate am, dem send message follow am for back, dem talk, ‘We no want dis man rule over us.’

¹⁵“When e come back after e don receive di kingdom, e call di servant dem wey e give money, so e go know wetin each one don gain. ¹⁶Di first one come, e talk, ‘Oga, your money don gain ten times as much.’”

¹⁷“E answer am, ‘Well done, good servant! Since you dey faithful for small matter, take charge of ten cities.’”

¹⁸“And di second one come, e talk, ‘Oga, di money wey you give me don gain five times as much.’”

¹⁹“And e tell am, ‘You too go dey in charge of five cities.’”

²⁰“Den anoda one come, e talk, ‘Oga, your money be dis wey I return, wey I keep wrap inside cloth;’ ²¹because I dey fear you, since you be man wey hard: you dey take wetin you no keep and you dey harvest wetin you no plant.”

²²E answer am, “Na from your own mouth I go judge you, wicked servant! You know say I be man wey hard, wey dey take wetin I no keep and dey harvest wetin I no plant? ²³Why then you no put my money for bank? For I for collect am with interest when I come back. ²⁴E tell di people wey stand near am, ‘Collect di money from am, give am to di one wey get ten times as much.’”

²⁵“And dem tell am, ‘Oga, e don get ten times as much!’ ²⁶I dey tell una: everybody wey get, dem go give am more; but for di one wey no get anything, even di small wey e get, dem go take am comot. ²⁷But bring dis my enemy dem come here, di ones wey refuse make I rule over dem, kill dem for my front.’”

di Pikin Enter Jerusalem As King

²⁸After e don talk dis things, e waka go front, e dey go up to Jerusalem.

²⁹As e near Bethphage and Bethany, for di Mount of Olives, e send two of im disciple dem, ³⁰e talk, “Go inside di village wey dey front. As una enter, una go see one young donkey wey dem tie, wey nobody never sidon on top am. Loose am, bring am come. ³¹If anybody ask una, ‘Why una dey loose am?’ make una talk, ‘Di Oga need am.’”

³²So di ones wey e send go, dem go find am just as e don tell dem. ³³As dem dey loose di young donkey, di people wey own am ask dem, “Why una dey loose di young donkey?” ³⁴And dem talk, “Di Oga need am.” ³⁵Dem bring am come give Jesus, dem throw dem cloth on top di young donkey, dem put Jesus sidon on top am. ³⁶And as e dey ride dey go, dem spread dem cloth for di road. ³⁷As e near di place wey di Mount of Olives dey go down, di whole crowd of disciple begin dey rejoice, dem dey praise our Papa with loud voice for all di mighty work wey dem don see, ³⁸dem dey talk, “Blessing dey for di King wey dey come for di name of our Papa! Peace dey for heaven and glory dey for di highest place!”

³⁹And some of di Pharisee dem for di crowd tell am, “Teacher, warn your disciple dem.”

⁴⁰E answer, “I dey tell una, if dis ones keep quiet, na di stone dem go cry out.”

⁴¹And when e come near, e see di city, e cry for am,

⁴²e talk, “If only you for don know today di things wey go bring you peace! But now e don hide from your eyes. ⁴³Days dey come wey your enemy dem go build wall surround you, dem go circle you, dem go press you for every side, ⁴⁴and dem go level you and your children flat for inside your wall, dem no go leave one stone on top anoda, because you no recognize di time wey your visitation come.” ^a a v44 Di ‘time wey your visitation come’ na di time wey God come Jerusalem for di person of Jesus.

Jesus Clean im Papa House

⁴⁵And e enter di temple, e begin drive out di people wey dey sell,

⁴⁶e tell dem, “Scripture talk say, ‘My house go be house of prayer,’ but una don turn am to place wey thief dem dey hide.”

⁴⁷E dey teach every day for di temple, while di chief priest dem, di scribe dem, and di leader of di people dey look for way to kill am, ⁴⁸but dem no fit find anything wey dem go do, because all di people dey hold tight to im words.
