Mark 12

12 ¹E begin talk to dem for parable: “One man plant vineyard, e fence am round, e dig hole for winepress, e build watchtower, e rent am give farmers, and e comot go. ²For harvest time, e send one servant go meet di tenants make e collect some of di fruit wey di vineyard bear. ³But dem catch am, dem beat am, and dem send am comot empty-hand. ⁴Again, e send anoda servant give dem; dem knock am for head and dem disgrace am. ⁵And e send anoda one, and dem kill am—then plenty more, dem beat some and dem kill odas.”

⁶E still get one, one beloved pikin; last-last e send am go meet dem, e talk say, ‘Dem go respect my pikin.’ ^a a v6 Di vineyard owner wey send im one beloved pikin na our Papa wey send Jesus — di same word wey di Papa talk on top am for im baptism, “my beloved Pikin.”

⁷“But di tenants talk to demsef, ‘Na dis one be di heir. Come, make we kill am—di inheritance go be our own.’ ⁸So dem take am kill am, and dem throway am comot for di vineyard. ⁹So wetin di owner of di vineyard go do? E go come, e go destroy di tenants, and e go give di vineyard to odas. ¹⁰Una neva read dis Scripture: ‘Di stone wey di builders reject don turn di cornerstone; ¹¹na our Papa do dis one, and e dey wonderful for our eye’?”

¹²Dem wan arrest am but dem fear di crowd, sake say dem sabi say na against dem e tell di parable. So dem leave am waka comot.

Give Caesar, Give di Papa

¹³Dem send some of di Pharisees and Herodians make dem trap am for im word. ¹⁴Dem come talk to am, “Teacher, we sabi say you true and you no dey care wetin anybody think, sake say you no dey judge by face but you dey truly teach our Papa im way. E dey lawful to pay tax give Caesar, abi no? Make we pay, abi make we no pay?”

¹⁵But, as e sabi dem pretend-pretend, e talk to dem, “Why una dey test me? Bring silver coin make I look am.” ¹⁶Dem bring one, and e ask dem, “Na who image and name dey on top am?” Dem tell am, “Na Caesar own.”

¹⁷Jesus tell dem, “Give Caesar wetin be Caesar own, and give our Papa wetin be our Papa own.” Dem wonder well-well for im matter.

Di Papa of di People wey Dey Alive

¹⁸And di Sadducees come meet am, dem wey dey talk say resurrection no dey. And dem question am, dem talk say,

¹⁹“Teacher, Moses write for us say if man im broda die leave wife but no pikin, di broda must marry am and raise up offspring for am. ²⁰Seven brodas dey; di first one marry, and wen e die, e no leave any pikin. ²¹And di second one marry am, and e die, e no leave any pikin. And di third one same way. ²²And none of di seven leave any pikin. Last of all, di woman sef die. ²³For di resurrection, wen dem rise, na who wife she go be? Di seven marry am as wife.”

Love di Papa With Everything

²⁹Jesus answer, “Di most important na dis: ‘Hear, Israel: our Papa na one.’ ³⁰Love your Papa with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

³¹“Di second na dis: ‘Love your neighbour like yousef.’ No commandment big pass dis ones.”

³²Di scribe talk to am, “You talk well, Teacher. You don talk true say na one E be, and no oda one dey besides am. ³³To love am with all di heart, all di understanding, all di strength, and to love your neighbour like yousef, matter pass all di whole burnt offerings and sacrifice put together.”

Na Who Pikin be di Messiah?

³⁵As e dey teach for di temple, Jesus ask, “How di scribes fit talk say di Christ na di son of David?

³⁶David imsef talk by di Holy Spirit: ‘Our Papa talk to my Lord, “Sit for my right hand until I put your enemies under your foot.”’

Di Widow im Gift
