Romans 7

7 ¹Or una no know—my brothers, I dey talk to people wey sabi di law—say di law dey rule person only as e still dey alive? ²Di law tie married woman to her husband as im still dey alive; but if im husband die, she don free from di law wey bind am to di husband. ³As her husband still dey alive, if she go marry another man, dem go call am woman wey dey commit adultery; but if her husband die, she don free from dat law—so she no be adulterous woman if she marry another man. ⁴So, my brothers and sisters, una too don die to di law through Christ body, so una fit belong to another one—di One wey dem raise from dead—make we fit bear fruit for our Papa. ⁵Because when we still dey inside di flesh, na di law dey stir di bad desires of sin, and dem dey work for our body to bear fruit for death. ⁶But now, dem don free us from di law; we don die to di ting wey bin bind us, so we fit serve for di new way of di Spirit, no be di old way of di written law.

Di Law Show Sin Power Clear-clear

⁷So wetin we go talk? Di law na sin? God forbid! But I no for sabi wetin sin be if no be through di law—and I no for sabi wetin craving be, if di law no bin talk say, “No craving wetin no be your own.” ⁸But sin, wey grab chance through di commandment, produce every kind covetous craving inside me. Because if law no dey, sin dey dead. ⁹One time, I bin dey live without law; but when di commandment come, sin wake up, and I die. ¹⁰I come find out say di same commandment wey suppose bring life, na death e actually bring. ¹¹Because sin, wey grab chance through di commandment, deceive me, and through di commandment e kill me. ¹²So then, di law holy, and di commandment holy and na correct-and-holy way and e good.

¹³So na di good ting bring death to me? God forbid! Na sin—wey dem wan show clear say na sin—use di good ting produce death inside me, so that through di commandment sin fit turn to somiting wey bad well well. ¹⁴Because we know say di law na spiritual ting, but me na person of flesh, wey dem don sell under sin. ¹⁵I no understand wetin I dey do; because di ting wey I wan do, no be am I dey do, but di ting wey I hate, na am I dey do. ¹⁶If na di ting wey I no wan do I dey do, then I dey gree say di law good. ¹⁷So now, no be me again dey do am, but na di sin wey dey live inside me. ¹⁸Because I know say no good ting dey live inside me—dat na, inside my flesh. Because I wan do good, but I no fit carry am go end. ¹⁹Because di good wey I wan do, no be am I dey do, but di evil wey I no wan do—na am I dey do anyhow. ²⁰Now if na di ting wey I no wan do I dey do, then no be me again dey do am, but na di sin wey dey live inside me dey do am. ²¹So I find dis law: as I wan do good, evil dey stay near me for hand. ²²Because for inside my heart, I dey take joy for di law of our Papa. ²³But I dey see another law inside my body, wey dey fight against di law of my mind, and e dey carry me go prison under di law of sin wey dey work inside my body. ²⁴Ah, na wetin kind wretched man I be! Who go rescue me from dis body of death? ²⁵Thank you to our Papa through Jesus Christ our Oga! So then, me myself dey serve di law of our Papa with my mind, but with my flesh, na di law of sin I dey serve.
