Our Papa Refuse Make Dem Come Ask Am Anytin

Elders come make dem ask question, but our Papa no gree make dem consult am. Instead, e begin count their history: how dem rebel for Egypt, for wilderness, and for the land. Every time, e hold back because of him name. E go gather dem and judge dem face to face.

Chapter 20.

For di seventh year, di fifth month, di tenth day of di month, some elders of Israel come meet our Papa to ask am tin, dem come sidon for my front.

Den di word of our Papa come to me sey:

You wey be ordinary man, tell di elders of Israel: Na dis di Sovereign Papa talk: Una don come to ask me tin? As I dey alive so, I no go gree make una ask me anytin, na so di Sovereign Papa talk.

You go judge dem? You go judge dem, you wey be ordinary man? Den make dem face di dirty-dirty tins wey dem papa-mama bin do, and tell dem: Na dis di Sovereign Papa talk: For di day wey I pick Israel, I raise my hand for oath give di pikin-pikin of Jacob im house, I make myself known to dem for Egypt. Wit my hand up, I tell dem sey, ‘I be your Papa.’ For dat day I swear sey I go bring dem comot from Egypt go one land wey I don find for dem, land wey milk and honey full inside, di finest for all di lands.

I tell dem sey, ‘Every one of una, throway di dirty images wey una eye dey fix; make una no dirty unaself wit di idol of Egypt. I be your Papa.’

But dem rebel against me and no gree hear; nobody throway di dirty-dirty tins wey dem eye hold tight, and nobody drop di idol of Egypt. So I talk sey I go pour my vex-vex ontop dem and finish my anger against dem for dia inside Egypt. But because of my name I do wetin I do, so dat e no go spoil for di eyes of di nations wey dem dey live among, di nations wey I don make myself known to as I bring dem comot from Egypt.

So I lead dem comot from Egypt and bring dem enter di wilderness. I give dem my decrees and make dem know my laws—anybody wey obey dem go live. I also give dem my sabbaths as sign between me and dem, so dat dem go know sey I be dia Papa, di One wey dey make dem holy.

But di house of Israel rebel against me for di wilderness. Dem refuse to waka by my decrees and dem throway my laws—even though anybody wey keep dem go live by dem—and dem spoil my sabbaths well-well. So for di wilderness I talk sey I go pour my vex-vex ontop dem to destroy dem. But I do wetin I do because of my name, so dat e no go spoil for di eyes of di nations wey see me bring dem comot. For di desert I also raise my hand, I swear sey I no go bring dem enter di land wey I give dem—land wey milk and honey full inside, di finest for all di lands, because dem throway my laws, dem ignore my decrees, and dem spoil my sabbaths, dia heart set ontop dia idol. Still, my belle pain me for dem and I no destroy dem finish for di wilderness. For di wilderness I tell dia pikin-pikin sey: No follow di rules of your papa-mama or keep dia laws or dirty unaself wit dia idol. “I be your Papa; follow my decrees and take am serious to keep my laws. Keep my sabbaths holy; dem go be sign between me and una, so dat una go know sey I be your Papa.”

But di pikin-pikin rebel against me. Dem no follow my decrees or keep my laws—di person wey obey dem go live—and dem spoil my sabbaths. So I talk sey I go pour my anger ontop dem, and finish my vex-vex on dem for di wilderness. But I hold back my hand and do wetin I do because of my name, so dat e no go spoil for di eyes of di nations wey see me bring dem comot. Wit my hand up I swear give dem for di wilderness sey I go scatter dem among di nations and spread dem for di different lands, because dem no obey my laws, dem throway my decrees, dem spoil my sabbaths, and dia eye dey run after di idol of dia papa-mama. So I give dem statutes wey no good and laws wey dem no fit live by; a a v25 Dis no mean sey our Papa give bad-bad commands. As dem don refuse im good laws, dem hand di people over to di destroy-destroy tins wey dem demselves pick—dia idol-worship dem leave am make e run im deadly race. I allow make dia gifts dirty dem—every firstborn wey dem sacrifice—so dat fear go full dem, and dem go know sey I be dia Papa.

So, you wey be ordinary man, tell di people of Israel: Di Sovereign Papa talk sey: For dis matter too your papa-mama blaspheme against me, as dem no dey faithful to me: After I bring dem enter di land wey I raise my hand swear to give dem, dem see every high hill and tree wey leaf full, dem sacrifice dia offerings for dia, dem present gifts wey provoke me, dem send up dia sweet-smelling incense, and dem pour out dia drink offerings. Den I ask dem sey: Wetin be dis high place wey una dey go so? (Dem still dey call am Bamah till today.). b b v29 Di name Bamah mean pagan “high place.” Di question dey play wit how e sound—“wetin be di high place wey una dey go so?”—and di name just stick.

So tell di people of Israel: Na dis di Sovereign Papa talk: Una wan dirty unaself like una papa-mama and run after dia dirty images? As una dey present offerings and dey pass una pikin through fire, una still dey dirty unaself wit all una idol, even now. Make I gree make una come ask me tin, house of Israel? As I dey alive so, na so di Sovereign Papa talk, I no go gree make una ask me anytin.

Una dey talk sey, ‘Make we be like di nations, like di people of oda lands, wey dey serve wood and stone.’ But wetin dey una mind go never happen.

As sure as I dey alive, na so di Sovereign Papa talk, I go rule ontop una wit strong hand, wit arm wey I stretch out, and wit vex-vex wey I pour out. “I go bring una comot from di nations, gada una from di lands wey dem scatter una, wit strong hand, wit arm wey I stretch out, and wit vex-vex wey I pour out. I go bring una enter di wilderness of di nations, and for dia I go judge una face to face.” As I judge una papa-mama for di wilderness of Egypt, na so I go judge una, na so di Sovereign Papa talk. “I go count una as una dey pass under my rod and I go bring una enter di bond of di Covenant. c c v37 Shepherd dem dey count and check dia flock as dem dey make di sheep pass one by one under staff wey dem raise up. Our Papa dey paint imself as di shepherd wey dey count im own. I go clear comot from una midst dose wey dey revolt and rebel against me. I go bring dem comot from di land wey dem dey live, but dem no go enter di land of Israel. Den una go know sey I be your Papa.”

And una, people of Israel, na dis di Sovereign Papa talk: Go, every one of una, go serve una idol! But afta, una go surely hear me and una no go spoil my holy name again wit una gifts and una idol. Because ontop my holy mountain, di high mountain of Israel, na so di Sovereign Papa talk, na dia for di land all di people of Israel go serve me, and na dia I go accept dem. Na dia I go ask for una offerings, una finest gifts, and all una holy sacrifices. “I go accept una like sweet-smelling incense wen I bring una comot from di nations and gada una from di lands wey dem scatter una, and through una I go show sey I holy for di eyes of di nations. Den una go know sey I be your Papa, wen I bring una enter di land of Israel, di land wey I raise my hand swear to give una papa-mama. For dia una go remember una waka and all di tins wey una do wey dirty unaself, and una go hate unaself for all di bad tins wey una don do. Una go know sey I be your Papa wen I handle una because of my name, no be according to una bad ways and rotten deeds, una people of Israel, na so di Sovereign Papa talk.”

Fire Against di South

Di word of our Papa come to me sey:

You wey be ordinary man, face di south; preach against am and prophesy against di forest of di southland. Talk to di southern forest sey: Hear di word of our Papa. Di Sovereign Papa talk sey: I dey about to light fire inside you wey go chop every tree, di green and di dry one sef. Di blaze no go quench; e go burn every face from south go north. Everybody go see sey na me, your Papa, light am; e no go quench.

Den I talk sey, “Ah, Sovereign Papa! Dem dey talk about me sey, ‘No be parable im just dey talk so?’”
