Luke 5

Jesus Make One Man Clean

¹²As Jesus dey inside one of di town, one man wey full of bad skin disease appear. As e see Jesus, e fall face down and beg, “Oga, if You gree, You fit make me clean.”

¹⁴Jesus command am make e no tell anybody, “but go, show yasef to di priest and offer wetin Moses command for your cleansing, as proof to di people.”

Our Papa Power to Forgive

¹⁷One day as e dey teach, Pharisees and teachers of di law siddon, wey come from every village of Galilee, and from Judea and Jerusalem. Jesus Call Levi

²⁷After dis, Jesus comot go outside and see one tax collector wey dem dey call Levi wey siddon for di tax booth. “Follow me,” e talk.

²⁸So Levi stand up, leave everytin, and follow am. ²⁹Den Levi make big feast for Jesus for im house, and plenty crowd of tax collector and oda people siddon dey chop with dem. ³⁰But di Pharisees and dia scribes dey complain to im disciples, “Why una dey chop and drink with tax collector and sinner dem?”

³¹Jesus answer dem, “Na not di people wey well need doctor, but na di sick people. ³²I no come to call di correct-and-holy way people, but sinner dem to make dem repent.”

Question About Fasting

³³Dem talk to am, “John im disciples dey fast plenty time and dey pray, na so di Pharisees im disciples too dey do, but your own dey chop and drink.”

³⁴Jesus talk, “Una fit make di friend of di bridegroom fast while e still dey with dem? ³⁵But di days go come wey dem go take di bridegroom comot from dem, and den, for dat days, dem go fast.”

³⁶E tell dem parable too: “Nobody dey tear patch from new cloth come sew am for old one. If e do so, e go tear di new one, and di new patch no go match di old one. ³⁷Nobody dey put new wine inside old wineskin; if e do so, di new wine go burst di skin, pour comot, and di skin go spoil. ³⁸No, dem must pour new wine inside new wineskin. ³⁹And nobody wey don drink old wine go want di new one, because e go talk, ‘Di old one good.’”
