My Spirit Don Broke
Job spirit don break and grave dey feel like bed wey dem don lay ready. Im ask who go stand as im guarantor, since no one friend get wisdom to give. If im go call the pit im papa and worm im mama, where im hope dey?
17 1"My spirit don broke, my days don quench, di grave don ready for me. 2For true, na people wey dey mock me surround me, and my eye no fit look comot from dia insult.
3"Abeg, put pledge for me with yourself; who else go give im word as my guarantor? 4Because you don close dia mind to understanding; na why you no go let dem win. 5Person wey dey sell im friends for gain—di eye of im pikin dem go fail.
6"E don make me byword among di people, person wey dem dey spit for face. 7My eye don dim because of sorrow, and all my body parts don be like shadow. 8People wey dey do correct-and-holy way dey shock for dis matter, and di innocent one dey rise against di person wey no get God. 9But still, di correct-and-holy person dey hold im way, and di one wey get clean hand dey stronger and stronger.
10"But make una come back, all of una, come now—I no fit find even one wise man among una. 11My days don pass, my plans don break, and di things wey my heart dey want go with dem. 12Dem dey turn night to day; 'light,' na wetin dem talk, 'don near'—for di front of darkness. 13If I dey hope for di grave as my house, if I spread my bed for inside darkness, 14if I call di pit, 'You be my papa,' and di worm, 'My mama' and 'My sister,' 15wia my hope dey den? Who fit see any hope for me? 16E go go down reach di gates of di grave? We go go down together enter di dust?"
