Exodus 16

16 ¹Di whole Israel community comot from Elim come reach di wilderness of Sin, wey dey between Elim and Sinai, for di fifteenth day of di second month afta dem comot from di land of Egypt. ²And di whole gathering of di people of Israel begin complain against Moses and Aaron for di wilderness. ³Di Israelites tell dem sey, “E for beta if we just die by our Papa hand for Egypt, di time wey we dey sidon near pot of meat, dey chop bread wella! But una carry us come dis wilderness make hunger kill dis whole crowd.”

⁴Den our Papa tell Moses sey, “Look, I go rain bread come down from heaven for una. Everyday di people go comot go gather dat day own portion, so I fit test dem—dem go follow my instruction abi dem no go? ^a a v4 Jesus point back to dis bread wey comot from heaven wen e call imsef di true bread wey our Papa dey give — di bread of life wey come down from heaven to give life to di world. ⁵For di sixth day, dem go prepare wetin dem carry come inside—double wetin dem dey gather everyday.”

⁶Moses and Aaron tell all di people of Israel sey, “For evening una go know sey na our Papa carry una comot from di land of Egypt, ⁷and for morning una go see di glory of our Papa—e don hear how una dey complain against am. Who be we, wey una dey complain against us?” ⁸Moses talk sey, “Wen our Papa give una meat to chop for evening and all di bread wey una want for morning, sake of sey e don hear how una dey complain against am—who be we? Di complain wey una dey make no be against us, na against our Papa.” ⁹Moses tell Aaron sey, “Tell all di Israel community, ‘Come near for front of our Papa—e don hear how una dey complain.’” ¹⁰As Aaron dey talk to all di people of Israel, dem look toward di wilderness, and di glory of our Papa show inside di cloud. ¹¹And our Papa tell Moses sey,

¹²“I don hear di complain of Israel. Tell dem sey: For evening-time una go chop meat; for morning una go belleful with bread. Den una go know sey na me be una Papa.”

¹³Dat evening quail come cover di camp; and for morning dew lie down round di place. ¹⁴Wen di dew lift comot, small small tin, fine like frost, cover di ground of di wilderness. ¹⁵Wen di Israelites see am, dem ask each oda sey, “Wetin be dis?”—dem no know wetin e be. Moses talk sey, “Na dis be di bread wey our Papa don give una to chop.

¹⁶Na dis be wetin our Papa command: ‘Make everybody gather wetin e fit chop, like two quart for each head, for everybody wey dey inside una tent.’”

¹⁷And di people of Israel do so. Dem gather am, some plenty, some small. ¹⁸But wen dem measure am with di two-quart measure, di one wey gather plenty no get extra, and di one wey gather small no lack—each person gather exactly wetin e fit chop. ¹⁹And Moses tell dem sey, “Make nobody leave any of am reach morning.” ²⁰But dem no listen to Moses—some leave part reach morning; e bring worm come and e begin smell. Moses vex with dem. ²¹Every morning dem gather am, each person as e fit chop; wen di sun hot, e melt.

²²For di sixth day dem gather double di bread, like four quart each, and all di leaders of di community come tell Moses.

²³E tell dem sey, “Na dis be wetin our Papa talk: Tomorrow na day of serious rest, one holy Sabbath to una Papa. Bake wetin una wan bake, boil wetin una wan boil, and keep whatever remain reach morning.”

²⁴So dem keep am one side reach morning, as Moses command, and e no smell or bring worm. ²⁵Moses talk sey, “Chop am today; today na Sabbath to our Papa; today una no go find am for di field. ²⁶Six days una go gather am, but for di seventh day, di Sabbath, e no go dey.” ²⁷For di seventh day some of di people comot go gather, but dem no find any.

²⁸And our Papa tell Moses sey, “Reach wen una go refuse to keep my commandments and my instructions? ²⁹See, I don give una di Sabbath; na why for di sixth day I dey give una two days own bread. Make everybody stay for im place; make nobody comot from im place for di seventh day.”

³⁰So di people rest for di seventh day.

³¹Di house of Israel call di tin name “manna”; e be like coriander seed, white, and e taste like honey wafer. ^b b v31 Di name manna echo di people first question, “Wetin be dis?” — dem name di bread afta dia own wonder about am.

³²Moses talk sey, “Na dis be wetin our Papa command: ‘Keep like two quart of am for una generations, so dem fit see di bread wey I feed una for di wilderness wen I bring una comot from di land of Egypt.’”
