Psalms 90

Book

Moses Pray to di Papa wey No Dey Ever End

Prayer wey Moses, di man of our Papa, pray.

Moses put human life side-by-side with im Papa wey dey forever: one thousand years dey pass like one watch for last night, and dem dey sweep people comot like morning grass. E no ask for more days; e ask for sense to count dem, and for gladness wey go match di years of trouble.

Chapter 90.

Papa wey be Oga over all, na you be our house from generation reach generation. Before you born di mountains, or you bring di earth and di world comot, from everlasting reach everlasting, na you be our Papa.

You dey turn person back to dust, you dey talk say, “Come back, una pikin of mankind.”

Because 1,000 years for your eye be like one day wey don pass, like one small watch for night. You dey sweep dem comot like flood; dem be like dream, like grass wey dey sprout for morning, for morning e dey grow well-well and sprout; by evening e go don wither and dry.

Because your anger dey finish us; your vex dey make us fear well-well. You don put our wrong-doing for front of you, our secret sin for di light of your presence. Because all our days dey pass comot under your vex; we dey finish our years like person wey just breathe out. We dey live for seventy years, or eighty if our power still strong; but dem no dey bring anything except suffer and wahala—dem dey quick pass, and we go fly comot. Who sabi di power of your anger? Your vex big reach di fear wey suppose dey for you. Teach us how to count our days, so dat we fit get heart wey get wisdom.

Come back, our Papa! How long? Make your belle dey pain you for us wey be your servants. For morning, satisfy us with your Covenant love, so dat we fit sing with joy and dey glad all our days. Make us glad reach di number of days wey you don make us suffer, reach di number of years wey we don see trouble. Make your servants see your work, and make dem pikin see how you dey shine with glory.

Make di favour of Papa wey be Oga over all rest for us; make di work of our hand stand strong for us—yes, make di work of our hand stand strong.
