1 Samuel 3

3 ¹Di boy Samuel dey serve our Papa under Eli. For dat time, di word of our Papa no dey common; vision no dey happen anyhow. ²One day, Eli lie down for im usual place. Im eye don weak so tey e no fit see again. ³Di lamp of our Papa never quench yet; Samuel lie down for di temple of our Papa, di place wey im ark dey. ⁴Den our Papa call Samuel, and Samuel talk say, “I dey here.”

⁵E run go meet Eli talk say, “I dey here; you call me.” Eli talk say, “I no call you; go back go lie down.” So e go lie down.

⁶Our Papa call again say, “Samuel!” Samuel get up, go meet Eli talk say, “I dey here; you call me.” Eli talk say, “I no call, my pikin. Go back go lie down.”

⁷Samuel never know our Papa yet; di word of our Papa never show imsef to am yet. ⁸So our Papa call Samuel again, di third time. E get up, go meet Eli talk say, “I dey here; you call me.” Na den Eli come understand say na our Papa dey call di boy.

⁹Eli tell Samuel say, “Go lie down. If e call, you go talk say, ‘Talk, my Papa, because your servant dey listen.’” So Samuel go lie down for im place.

¹⁰Den our Papa come, stand for there, and call like before: “Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel talk say, “Talk, because your servant dey listen.”

¹¹Den our Papa tell Samuel say, “Look—I dey about to do something for Israel wey go make di two ear of anybody wey hear am dey ring. ¹²For dat day, I go carry out everything wey I talk about Eli family, from start to finish. ¹³I don tell am say I go judge im house forever because of di sin wey e know: im sons blaspheme me, and e no stop dem at all. ¹⁴So I don swear to Eli house say: sacrifice or offering no go ever fit clean di guilt of Eli house.”

¹⁵Samuel lie down till morning, den e open di doors of di house of our Papa. But e dey fear to tell Eli di vision. ¹⁶But Eli call am talk say, “Samuel, my pikin.” Samuel answer say, “I dey here.”

¹⁷Eli ask am say, “Wetin e talk give you? No hide am from me. Make our Papa punish you well-well if you hide anything wey e tell you from me.”

¹⁸Samuel tell am everything, e no hide anything from am. Eli talk say, “Na our Papa; make e do wetin e see say correct.”

¹⁹Samuel grow up; our Papa dey with am, and e no let any of Samuel words fall for ground. ²⁰All Israel, from Dan reach Beersheba, know say dem don confirm Samuel as prophet of our Papa. ^a a v20 Dan na di city wey dey far pass for di north side of Israel, and Beersheba na di one wey dey far pass for di south side — “from Dan reach Beersheba” mean di whole land finish. ²¹Our Papa continue to dey show imsef for Shiloh, because na there e reveal imsef to Samuel through im word.
