2 Chronicles 18

18 ¹Now Jehoshaphat get plenty riches and honor, and e join family with Ahab through marriage. ²As some years pass, e go down meet Ahab for Samaria, and Ahab kill plenty sheep and cattle for am and for di people wey dey with am, dey push am make e go attack Ramoth-gilead. ³Ahab king of Israel ask Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “You go go with me to Ramoth-gilead?” E answer, “I be like you, my people be like your people; we go join you for di war.”

⁴But Jehoshaphat tell di king of Israel, “First, make we ask di word of our Papa.”

⁵So di king of Israel gather di prophets, 400 men, and ask dem, “We go go Ramoth-gilead go fight, abi make we hold back?” Dem talk, “Go up, because God go hand am give di king.”

⁶But Jehoshaphat talk, “No prophet of our Papa still dey here wey we fit ask?”

⁷Israel im king tell Jehoshaphat, “Na one man remain wey we fit take ask our Papa, but I hate am—e never prophesy anything good about me, na only bad. Na Micaiah pikin of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat answer, “Di king no suppose talk like dat.”

⁸Den di king of Israel call one officer come and talk, “Bring Micaiah pikin of Imlah quick-quick.”

⁹Di king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sidon, each one for im own throne, dress with royal cloth, for di threshing floor for di entrance of Samaria im gate, and all di prophets dey prophesy for their front. ¹⁰Zedekiah pikin of Chenaanah make iron horns and talk, “God say: ‘With dis ones you go gore di Arameans until dem finish.’”

¹¹All di prophets prophesy di same thing, dey talk: “Go up to Ramoth-gilead go win; our Papa go hand am give di king.”

¹²Di messenger wey dem send go call Micaiah tell am, “See, di prophets im words all dey favor di king. Make your own match their own—talk favorable.”

¹³But Micaiah talk, “As our Papa dey alive so, na only wetin my Papa talk I go talk.”

¹⁴As e come, di king ask am, “Micaiah, we go go fight for Ramoth-gilead, abi make I hold back?” E talk, “Go up go win; dem go hand dem give una.”

¹⁵But di king tell am, “How many times I go make you swear say na only di truth you go tell me for di name of our Papa?”

¹⁶Micaiah talk, “I see all Israel scatter for di mountains, like sheep wey no get shepherd. And our Papa talk, ‘Dem no get master; make each one return house for peace.’”

¹⁷Israel im king tell Jehoshaphat, “I no tell you say e no go prophesy anything good about me, na only evil?”

¹⁸Micaiah talk, “Then hear di word of our Papa: I see our Papa sidon for im throne, and all di armies of heaven stand for im right hand and im left hand.

¹⁹And our Papa talk, ‘Who go lure Ahab king of Israel make e go up go fall for Ramoth-gilead?’ One talk dis, anoda talk dat.

²⁰Den one spirit come forward, stand for our Papa front, and talk, ‘I go lure am.’ And our Papa ask am, ‘How?’

²¹E talk, ‘I go go out and be lying spirit for di mouth of all im prophets.’ Den our Papa talk, ‘You go lure am and you go win too. Go out go do so.’

²²So now, our Papa don put lying spirit for di mouth of dis your prophets, and our Papa don declare disaster against you.”

²³Den Zedekiah pikin of Chenaanah come up, slap Micaiah for cheek, and talk, “Which way di Spirit of God take comot from me go talk to you?”

²⁴Micaiah talk, “You go see am dat day wey you go enter inside room go hide.”

²⁵Di king of Israel talk, “Carry Micaiah go back to Amon di city governor and to Joash di king im pikin, ²⁶and talk, ‘Di king say: Put dis man for prison and give am small-small bread and water until I return safe.’”

²⁷Micaiah talk, “If you ever return safe, our Papa no talk through me.” Den e talk, “Hear, all una people!”

Ahab Fall Just As our Papa Talk Am Before

²⁸So di king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah go up to Ramoth-gilead. ²⁹Di king of Israel tell Jehoshaphat, “I go disguise myself go enter battle, but you, wear your royal cloth.” So di king of Israel disguise imself, and dem enter di battle. ³⁰Di king of Aram don command im chariot captains, “No fight anybody, small or big, na only di king of Israel.”

³¹As di chariot captains see Jehoshaphat, dem talk, “Na Israel im king be dat,” and dem turn to fight am. But Jehoshaphat cry out, and our Papa help am, e draw dem comot from am. ³²As di chariot captains see say no be Israel im king, dem stop to dey chase am. ³³One man draw im bow anyhow and hit di king of Israel between di joints of im armor. E tell di man wey dey drive im chariot, “Turn around carry me comot from di fight; dem don wound me.” ³⁴Di battle rage well-well dat day. Israel im king stand up for im chariot dey face di Arameans until evening, den e die as sun dey set.
