Jeremiah 36

36 ¹For di fourth year wey Jehoiakim di pikin of Josiah bin be King of Judah, dis word come to Jeremiah from our Papa say:

²"Take one scroll and write for inside am everytin wey I don talk to you against Israel, Judah, and all di nations, from di time wey I first talk to you for Josiah im days reach now. ³Maybe Judah go hear all di wahala wey I plan to bring on dem, and everybody go turn commot from im bad way, so I go forgive dia guilt and dia sin."

⁴Jeremiah call Baruch di pikin of Neriah, and as Jeremiah dey talk am, Baruch write for one scroll all di words wey our Papa don talk to am. ⁵Den Jeremiah tell Baruch say, "Dem don lock me for one place; I no fit go di house of our Papa. ⁶So you go go read from di scroll our Papa words wey you write as I dey talk am—read dem give all di people wey dey for our Papa house for fast day, and give di people of Judah wey dey come from dia towns. ⁷Maybe dia cry for mercy go reach our Papa, and everybody go turn commot from im bad way, because our Papa don declare big anger against dis people."

⁸Baruch di pikin of Neriah do everytin wey Jeremiah di prophet command am, as e dey read our Papa words for inside di book, for our Papa house. ⁹For di fifth year wey Jehoiakim di pikin of Josiah be King of Judah, for di ninth month, all di people wey dey Jerusalem and all wey come from di towns of Judah proclaim one fast for front of our Papa. ¹⁰Baruch read Jeremiah words from di scroll make all di people hear, for di house of our Papa, for di room of Gemariah di pikin of Shaphan di scribe, for di upper court, for di entrance of di New Gate of our Papa house.

¹⁶As dem hear all di words, everybody turn look im neighbor with fear, dey tell Baruch say, "We must tell di king all dis words." ¹⁷Dem ask Baruch say, "Tell us, how you take write all dis words? Na as e dey talk am?"

¹⁸Baruch answer say, "Na im talk all dis words give me; I write dem for inside di book with ink."

¹⁹Den di officials tell Baruch say, "Go hide, you and Jeremiah; make nobody know where una dey."

²⁰So dem go meet di king for di court, dem leave di scroll for di room of Elishama di scribe, and dem report everytin give am. ²¹Di king send Jehudi go bring di scroll; e take am from di room of Elishama di scribe. ²⁸"Go take anoda scroll and write for inside am all di words from di first scroll, wey Jehoiakim di King of Judah burn. ²⁹Concerning Jehoiakim di King of Judah, talk say: Na dis our Papa talk: You burn dis scroll, dey ask, 'Why you write say di king of Babylon go sure sure come destroy dis land, and wipe out every person and animal?' ³⁰So na dis our Papa talk about Jehoiakim di King of Judah: nobody wey belong to am go sidon for di throne of David; dem go throway im dead body outside give di heat of di day and di cold of di night. ³¹I go punish am, im pikin dem, and im servants for dia sin, and I go bring on dem, on di people wey dey live for Jerusalem, and on di people of Judah all di wahala wey I don declare against dem—but dem no listen."
