Jeremiah 35

35 ¹Di word wey come to Jeremiah from our Papa for di time wey Jehoiakim, di pikin of Josiah, bin be king of Judah:

²"Go di house of di Rechab people, talk with dem, bring dem enter one side room for my house, and give dem wine make dem drink."

³So I carry Jaazaniah, di pikin of Jeremiah, wey be pikin of Habazziniah, and im brodas and all im sons and di whole house of di Rechab people, ⁴and I bring dem come our Papa house, enter di room of di sons of Hanan, di pikin of Igdaliah, di man of our Papa, wey dey near di room of di officials, ontop di room of Maaseiah, di pikin of Shallum, di one wey dey keep di gate. ⁵Den I put bowls wey full with wine and cups for front of di sons of di house of di Rechab people and I talk say, "Drink some wine."

⁶But dem talk say, "We no go drink wine, because our papa Jonadab, di pikin of Rechab, command us say: You and una children no go ever drink wine. ⁷No build house, no plant seed, no plant vineyard; no get any of dem. Live inside tent all una days, so that una fit live many days for di land where una dey stay.' ⁸So we don obey Jonadab, di pikin of Rechab, our papa, for everything wey e command us: say we no go drink wine all our days—we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters, ⁹and say we no go build house make we live inside. We no get vineyard or field or seed, ¹⁰but we don dey live inside tent, we dey obey and dey do everything wey our papa Jonadab command us. ¹¹But when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon come attack di land, we talk say, 'Make we comot, make we go Jerusalem so we fit run from di Babylon and Aram armies.' Na so we come dey live for Jerusalem."

But I don talk to una again and again, and una no listen to me.

¹⁵Again and again I send all my servants di prophets come una, dey talk say, 'Make each one of una turn from im bad way and correct wetin una dey do. No follow oda gods to serve dem, and una go live for di land wey I give una and una ancestors.' But una no listen or pay attention to me. ¹⁶Di descendants of Jonadab, di pikin of Rechab, keep dem papa command, but dis people no listen to me.

¹⁷So di Papa wey get all di army for heaven, di Papa of Israel, talk: "I dey bring on top Judah and all di people of Jerusalem every trouble wey I don talk against dem, because I talk to dem and dem no listen, I call dem and dem no answer."

¹⁸Jeremiah talk to di house of di Rechab people say, "Na dis one di Papa wey get all di army for heaven, di Papa of Israel, talk: Because una obey di command of una papa Jonadab, keep all im instructions, and do everything wey e command una, ¹⁹na so di Papa wey get all di army for heaven, di Papa of Israel, talk: Jonadab, di pikin of Rechab, go always get person for im line wey go dey stand for my front."
