Deuteronomy 5

5 ¹Moses call all Israel come, e tell dem sey: "Israel, make una hear well-well di statutes and di rulings wey I dey tok for una ears today. ⁵For dat time I stand for middle of our Papa and una, to tell una our Papa word, bikos una dey fear di fire and una no climb di mountain. E sey:

⁶"Na I be your Papa, wey bring una comot from Egypt, di house of slavery.

⁷"Make una no get any oda gods before me.

⁸"No carve any image for yoursef, any shape of wetin dey for heaven up, or for di earth down, or for di waters wey dey under di earth. ⁹No bow to dem or serve dem, bikos me, your Papa, na jealous Papa, wey dey charge di fathers wrong give di pikin dem, reach di third and fourth generation of dose wey hate me, ¹⁰but I dey show Covenant love reach 1,000 generation of dose wey love me and dey keep my commandments.

¹¹"No misuse your Papa name, bikos our Papa no go leave anybody wey misuse im name without punishment.

¹²"Keep di Sabbath day, make e stay holy, as your Papa command una. ¹³For six days make una labor and do all una work, ¹⁴but di seventh day na Sabbath to your Papa. No do any work—you, your son or daughter, your servant man or woman, your ox, donkey, or any animal wey you get, or di stranger wey dey inside una towns—so dat your servant man and woman fit rest like you. ¹⁵Remember sey you bin be slave for Egypt, and your Papa bring you comot from dia with strong hand and arm wey e stretch out. Na why your Papa command you make you keep di Sabbath day.

¹⁶"Respect your papa and your mama, as your Papa command you, so dat your days go long and e go dey well with you for di land wey your Papa dey give you.

¹⁷"You no fit kill person.

¹⁸"You no fit commit adultery.

¹⁹"You no fit tif.

²⁰"You no fit tok lie testimony against your neighbor.

²¹"No crave your neighbor wife. No desire your neighbor house, farm, servant man or woman, ox, donkey, or anytin wey your neighbor get."

²²Na dis words our Papa tok give una whole gathering for di mountain, from inside di fire, cloud, and deep darkness, with loud voice; e no add anytin more. E write dem for two stone tablets and give dem to me. ²³Wen una hear di voice from di darkness, wen di mountain dey burn with fire, una come meet me—all una tribal heads and elders,

²⁴and una sey, "Look, our Papa show us im glory and im greatness; we hear im voice from di fire. Today we see our Papa dey tok with person, and dat person still dey alive. ²⁵So now, why we go die? Dis big fire go consume us. If we continue to dey hear our Papa voice, we go die. ²⁶Which human being for di whole world don ever hear di living Papa voice dey tok from inside di fire, like us, and e still dey alive? ²⁷You go near, hear all wetin our Papa tok, den come tell us all wetin our Papa tell you, and we go listen and obey."

²⁸Our Papa hear di words wey una tok give me, and our Papa tell me: "I don hear di words wey dis people tok give you. Everytin wey dem tok correct. ²⁹If only dem fit keep dis kind heart—dey fear me and dey keep all my commands all di time—so dat e go dey well with dem and dem pikin dem forever! ³⁰Go tell dem, 'Make una return go una tents.' ³¹But you, stand here with me, and I go tell you di whole command—di statutes and judgments—wey you go teach dem, so dat dem go do dem for di land wey I dey give dem to possess."

³²So make una take am serious do as your Papa command una; no turn go right or left. ³³Waka di whole way wey your Papa command una, so dat una go live, prosper, and last long for di land wey una go possess.
