Deuteronomy 6

6 ¹Na dis na di commandment—di statutes and di judgments—wey your Papa command me make I teach una, so dat una go fit do dem for di land wey una dey cross go possess. ²So dat una fit honor your Papa, dey keep all im statutes and commands wey I give una—una, una pikin dem, una grand-pikin dem—all di days of una life, and so dat una fit live long. ³Listen, Israel, and carefully do dem, so dat e go dey well for una and una go multiply well well for land wey milk and honey dey flow, just as our Papa, di God of una fathers, promise una.

E also talk say, ‘Me and di Papa na one’ (John 10:30). ⁵Love your Papa with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. ⁶And dis words wey I command you today, make dem dey your heart. ⁷Teach dem well well to your pikin dem, and talk about dem wen you sidon for your house and wen you dey waka for road, wen you lie down and wen you wake up. ⁸Tie dem as sign for your hand, and make dem dey like band for your forehead; ⁹and write dem for di doorpost of your house and for your gate dem.

¹⁰Wen your Papa bring you go di land wey e swear give your fathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give you big, fine cities wey you no build, ¹¹houses wey full with every good ting wey you no fill, wells wey dem don dig wey you no dig, vineyards and olive trees wey you no plant—and wen you chop and belle full you. ¹²Take care make you no forget our Papa, wey bring you comot for di land of Egypt, comot for di house of slavery. ¹³You go honor your Papa and serve am, and na for im name you go dey swear. ¹⁴No follow oda gods, di gods of di people dem wey dey around you, ¹⁵because your Papa wey dey among you na Papa wey dey jealous, if not im anger go burn against you and wipe you comot for di face of di earth. ¹⁶No test your Papa like as you test am for Massah. ^b b v16 Massah: di place wey Israel quarrel and test our Papa because water no dey (Exodus 17:1–7). ¹⁷Keep your Papa commandments well well, im testimonies, and im statutes wey e command you. ¹⁸Do wetin correct and good for our Papa eye, so dat e go dey well for you, and you go enter and possess di good land wey our Papa swear to give your fathers, ¹⁹dey drive comot all your enemies wey dey your front, just as our Papa don talk.

²⁰Wen your pikin come ask you one day say, ‘Wetin be di testimonies and statutes and judgments wey our Papa command you?’ ²¹Den tell your pikin say: ‘We bin be slaves to Pharaoh for Egypt, and our Papa bring us comot for Egypt with mighty hand. ²²Our Papa do great and fearful signs and wonders against Egypt, Pharaoh, and im whole household, for our eyes front. ²³E bring us comot from dere to bring us enter and give us di land wey e swear to our fathers. ²⁴And our Papa command us to do all dis statutes, to honor our Papa, for our own good always, to keep us alive, like as we dey today. ²⁵E go be correct-and-holy way for us if we keep and do all dis commandment for front of our Papa, just as e command us.’
