Acts 9

9 ¹But Saul, wey still dey breathe threat and murder against Oga im disciples, go meet the high priest, ²and beg am for letters wey e go carry go the synagogues for Damascus, so that if e find anybody wey dey follow the Way, man or woman, e fit tie dem bring come Jerusalem. ^a a v2 "The Way" na di first-first name wey dem take call the people wey dey follow Jesus, before dem come dey call dem Christians. ³As e dey travel and dey near Damascus, sharp-sharp one light from heaven flash surround am.

⁴E fall for ground and hear one voice wey talk say, "Saul, Saul, why you dey persecute me?"

⁵E say, "Oga, na who you be?" And the voice say, "Na me be Jesus, di one wey you dey persecute.

⁶But stand up and enter the city, and dem go tell you wetin you must do."

⁷The men wey dey travel with am just stand, mouth no fit talk, dem dey hear the voice but dem no see anybody. ⁸Saul stand up from the ground, but even as im eyes open, e no fit see anything; dem hold am for hand lead am enter Damascus. ⁹For three days e no fit see, and e no chop, e no drink.

¹⁰One disciple wey im name na Ananias dey live for Damascus. For vision Oga tell am, "Ananias." E answer, "I dey here, Oga."

¹¹Oga tell am, "Stand up, go the street wey dem dey call Straight, and for Judas im house find one man from Tarsus wey im name na Saul—e dey pray, ¹²and for vision e don see one man wey im name na Ananias enter come put im hand for am so that e go fit see again."

¹³Ananias answer, "Oga, plenty people don tell me about dis man—the bad wey e don do your holy people for Jerusalem. ¹⁴And even here e get power from the chief priests to tie everybody wey dey call your name."

¹⁵But Oga tell am, "Go, because dis man na the instrument wey I don choose to carry my name go before nations, kings, and Israel im people. ¹⁶Because I go show am how much e must suffer because of my name."

¹⁷Ananias go, e enter the house. E put im hand for Saul and say, "Brother Saul, Oga Jesus—di one wey show imself to you for the road wey you dey travel—na im send me so that you go fit see again and the Holy Spirit go full you." ¹⁸Sharp-sharp something wey be like scale fall from im eyes, and e fit see again. E stand up and dem baptize am, ¹⁹and after e don chop, im strength come back. For some days e dey with the disciples for Damascus, ²⁰and sharp-sharp e start to dey preach Jesus for the synagogues, say na im be the Pikin of our Papa. ²¹Everybody wey hear am wonder well-well and say, "No be dis man be the one wey cause plenty wahala for Jerusalem among the people wey dey call dis name? And no be for dis reason e come here: to tie dem carry go before the chief priests?"

²²But Saul come dey strong pass, and e dey confuse the Jews wey dey live for Damascus as e dey prove say dis one na the Christ.

²³After plenty days don pass, the Jews plan to kill am, ²⁴but Saul come hear about dem plan; dem dey watch the gates day and night to kill am, ²⁵but for night im disciples put am inside basket lower am through the wall.

²⁶As e reach Jerusalem, e try to join the disciples, but everybody dey fear am, dem no believe say e be disciple. ²⁷But Barnabas carry am go meet the apostles and explain how Saul don see Oga for the road, and how Oga talk to am, and how for Damascus e don preach with bold face for Jesus name. ²⁸So e dey with dem, dey move about freely for Jerusalem, dey talk with bold face for the name of Oga. ²⁹E dey talk and dey argue with the Hellenists, but dem dey find way to kill am. ^b b v29 Hellenists: na the Jews wey dey speak Greek and wey don take Greek language and culture. ³⁰When the brothers hear dis, dem carry am go down to Caesarea and send am comot go Tarsus.

The Pikin Heal Aeneas Through Peter

³¹So the church for all over Judea, Galilee, and Samaria get peace and come strong; as e dey waka for the fear of Oga and the Holy Spirit dey comfort am, e come multiply for number.

³²As Peter dey travel among all the believers, e also go down to the holy people wey dey live for Lydda. ³³For there e find one man wey im name na Aeneas, wey don lie down for bed for eight years, because im body don paralyze. ³⁴Peter tell am, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ dey heal you. Stand up, arrange your bed." And one time e stand up. ³⁵And everybody wey dey live for Lydda and Sharon see am, and dem turn to Oga.

³⁶For Joppa one disciple dey wey im name na Tabitha, wey mean Dorcas. E full with good work and e dey help the poor people. ^c c v36 Tabitha (Aramaic) and Dorcas (Greek) all two mean "gazelle." ³⁷For those days e come sick and die; dem wash am and lay am for one room upstairs. ³⁸Since Lydda dey near Joppa, the disciples wey hear say Peter dey there send two men go meet am, dey beg am, "No delay to come meet us." ³⁹So Peter stand up follow dem go. When e reach, dem carry am go the upper room. All the widows stand near am dey cry, dey show the shirts and cloths wey Dorcas make while e dey with dem. ⁴⁰Peter send everybody comot, kneel down, and pray. E turn to the body and say, "Tabitha, stand up." E open im eyes, see Peter, and sit up. ⁴¹E give am im hand, raise am up. E call the holy people and the widows, and e present am alive. ⁴²And the news spread reach all over Joppa, and plenty people believe for Oga. ⁴³And e stay for Joppa plenty days with one man wey im name na Simon, wey be person wey dey work leather.
