Judges 7

7 ¹Jerubbaal (wey be Gideon) and all im people wake up early, dem camp for Harod im spring; Midian dem camp dey for north side of dem, for Moreh im hill wey dey inside di valley.

²Our Papa tell Gideon sey, "Di people wey dey with you too plenty make I hand Midian give dem, if not Israel go brag against me sey, 'Na my own hand save me.' ³So make you announce give di people sey: 'Anybody wey dey fear and dey shake, make e turn back comot from Mount Gilead.'" Twenty-two thousand (22,000) turn back go; ten thousand (10,000) remain.

⁴Our Papa tell Gideon sey, "Di people still too many. Take dem go down to di water; I go sift dem for you for there. Anybody wey I talk sey e go go with you, e go go; anybody wey I talk sey e no go go with you, e no go go." ⁵So e bring di people go down to di water, and our Papa tell Gideon sey, "Any person wey lap water with im tongue like dog, put am for one side; do di same thing give any person wey kneel down to drink."

⁶Three hundred (300) men lap water, dem carry hand go mouth; all di rest kneel down to drink water.

⁷Our Papa tell Gideon sey, "With di three hundred (300) men wey lap water, I go save you and hand Midian give you. Send all di other people go house, each person go im own place."

⁸So di people take chop and trumpet; Gideon send di rest of Israel go house, each person go im tent, but e keep di three hundred (300). Midian dem camp dey down for di valley below am.

⁹For that night, our Papa tell am sey, "Get up, go down to di camp, because I don hand am give you. ¹⁰But if you dey fear to go down, carry Purah your servant go down with you to di camp,

¹¹"Hear wetin dem dey talk, then your hand go strong, and you go go down enter di camp." So e go down with im servant Purah reach di edge of di camp where di soldiers wey carry weapon dey.

¹²Di Midian people, di Amalek people, and all di people from di east dey lie down inside di valley like locust; dem camel no get number, dem plenty like sand for di seaside. ¹³As Gideon reach, one man dey tell im padi one dream. E sey, "Listen, I dream one dream: one round bread wey dem make with barley come dey roll enter Midian dem camp, e hit di tent, and di tent fall—e turn upside down flat well well."

¹⁴Im padi answer sey, "Dis one na nothing but di sword of Gideon di son of Joash, wey be Israel man. God don hand Midian and di whole camp give am."

¹⁵As Gideon hear di dream and wetin e mean, e worship, e go back to Israel dem camp, and e sey, "Get up, because our Papa don hand Midian dem camp give una." ¹⁶E divide di three hundred (300) men into three group, and e give each person one trumpet, one empty pot, and torch light inside di pot.

¹⁷E tell dem sey, "Watch me; do wetin I do. When I reach di edge of di camp, do wetin I do."

¹⁸When me and all di people wey dey with me blow trumpet, make una too blow una own for round di whole camp, and make una shout sey: "For our Papa and for Gideon!"

¹⁹Gideon and im one hundred (100) men reach di edge of di camp as di middle watch just dey start, just after dem change di guard. Dem blow trumpet and break di pot wey dey dem hand. ²⁰Di three group blow dem trumpet and break dem pot, dem hold torch light for dem left hand, and trumpet for dem right hand ready to blow, dem dey shout sey, "Sword for our Papa and for Gideon!" ²¹Each man stand for im own place round di camp while di whole army run, shout, and take leg comot. ²²As di three hundred (300) trumpet blow, our Papa turn each man im sword against im padi for inside di whole camp. Di army run reach Beth-shittah, towards Zererah, reach di border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath. ²³Dem call out di Israel people from Naphtali, Asher, and all Manasseh, and dem chase Midian. ²⁴Gideon send messenger go all over Ephraim im hill country sey: "Come down against Midian—hold di waters before dem reach, reach Beth-barah and di Jordan." So all Ephraim im men gather and hold di waters reach Beth-barah and di Jordan. ²⁵Dem catch Midian dem two prince, Oreb and Zeeb. Dem kill Oreb for Oreb im rock, and dem kill Zeeb for Zeeb im winepress. Then dem chase Midian and bring Oreb and Zeeb dem head give Gideon for di other side of di Jordan.
