1 Timothy 5

5 ¹No talk hard-hard give old man wey pass you, but beg am like say na your papa, and beg young men like say na your brothers, ²old women like say na your mothers, and young women like say na your sisters, with clean-clean mind.

³Honor widow-women wey be true widow. ⁴But if widow get pikin or grand-pikin, make dem first learn to show love for dem own house, and pay back dem papa and mama—dis one dey sweet our Papa belle. ⁵Di true widow wey dem leave im one, don put im hope for our Papa, and e dey continue night and day for begging and prayer. ⁶But di widow wey dey live to just enjoy imsef don die sef even as e still dey alive. ⁷Give dem dis orders too, so dat nobody go fit talk anything bad against dem. ⁸If person no fit provide for im own people—especially di ones wey dey im house—e don deny di faith, and e don worse pass person wey no believe at all.

⁹No put widow for di list unless she don reach sixty years, and she bin dey faithful to one husband, ¹⁰wey people dey talk am well for good work: if she raise pikin, welcome strangers, wash di feet of di saints, help di ones wey dey suffer, and run after every good work.

¹¹But no gree put young widow for di list; when dem body-desire pull dem comot from Christ, dem go wan marry, ¹²and so dem go bring judgment come dem own head, becos dem don throway dem first pledge. ^a a v12 "Dem first pledge" mean di promise wey dem make to serve Christ and di church when dem enter di widow list. ¹³Dem go also learn to dey lazy, dey waka from house to house—no be lazy alone, but dem go dey carry gossip and dey put mouth for wetin no concern dem, dey talk wetin dem no suppose talk. ¹⁴So I want make young widow marry, born pikin, run dem house, and no give di enemy any chance to talk bad thing. ¹⁵Becos some don already turn comot to follow Satan. ¹⁶If any woman wey believe get widow among im relatives, make she take care of dem, make she no put load for di church, so dat di church go fit take care of true widow.

¹⁷Elders wey dey lead well deserve double honor, especially di ones wey dey work hard for preaching and teaching. ¹⁸Becos di Scripture talk say: "No tie mouth for ox as e dey waka on top grain," and "Di worker deserve im pay."

¹⁹No gree hear accusation against elder unless two or three witness dey talk am. ²⁰As for di ones wey no gree stop sin, correct dem for front of everybody, so dat di rest go fear.

²¹I dey charge you serious-serious for front of our Papa, Christ Jesus, and di angels wey dem choose: keep dis instructions, no take side, no do anything with favoritism. ²²No rush to lay hand on top anybody, and no join for other people sin—keep yoursef clean.

²³No drink only water again—take small wine for your belle and for di sickness wey dey worry you plenty times.

²⁴Some people sin dey clear well-well, dey go ahead reach judgment; but for other people, dem sin dey follow dem from behind. ²⁵Na di same way, good work dey clear well-well, and even di ones wey no clear no fit hide.
