1 John 2

2 ¹My dear children, I dey write dis one so dat una no go sin. But if anybody sin, we get person wey dey stand for us before di Papa—Jesus Christ, di correct-and-holy one. ²Na im be di atoning sacrifice for our sin, and no be for our own sin only, but for di whole world own too. ^a a v2 Jesus na di sacrifice wey dey cover our sin and turn judgement away — no be for believers only, but im offer am for di whole world. ³Na dis one make we know say we don come know am: if we dey keep im commandments. ⁴Anybody wey talk say, “I know am,” but no dey keep im commands, na liar—di truth no dey inside am. ⁵But anybody wey dey keep im word, di love of our Papa don truly complete for inside am. Na so we take dey know say we dey inside am: ⁶Anybody wey talk say im dey remain inside am suppose waka for di same way wey im waka.

⁷Dear ones, I no dey write una any new command, but old one, wey una don hold since di start—di old command na di word wey una hear. ⁸Again, I dey write una new command—wey dey true for inside am and for inside una—because di darkness dey pass and di true light don dey shine already. ⁹Anybody wey talk say im dey inside di light but hate im brother or sister still dey inside darkness till now. ¹⁰Anybody wey love im brother or sister dey remain inside di light, and nothing dey inside am wey go make person stumble. ¹¹But anybody wey hate im brother or sister dey inside darkness, dey waka for inside darkness, no know where im dey go—di darkness don blind im eyes.

¹²I dey write una, little children, because una sin don forgive for im name sake.

¹³I dey write una, fathers, because una know di One wey dey from di beginning. I dey write una, young men, because una don defeat di evil one.

¹⁴Children, I dey write because una know di Papa. Fathers, I dey write because una know di One wey dey from di beginning. Young men, I dey write because una strong, and di word of our Papa dey live inside una, and una don overcome di evil one.

No Love Di World

¹⁵No love di world, or anything wey dey inside di world. Anybody wey love di world, di love of di Papa no dey inside am. ¹⁶Everything wey dey inside di world—di craving of di flesh, di craving of di eye, and di pride of life—no be from di Papa but na from di world. ¹⁷Di world and im cravings dey pass away, but anybody wey dey do di will of our Papa go remain forever.

¹⁸Children, na di last hour be dis. As una hear say antichrist dey come, so now plenty antichrists don come; na dis one make we know say na di last hour. ^b b v18 “Antichrist” mean “against” or “in place of” Christ. ²⁸And now, little children, remain inside am, so dat when im show imself we go get confidence and no go run from am with shame when im come. ²⁹If una know say im correct-and-holy, una know too say everybody wey dey do correct thing na im born dem.
