1 Corinthians 8

8 ¹Concerning food wey dem sacrifice give idol: we know sey all of us get knowledge. Knowledge dey blow person head, but love dey build person up. ²If person think sey e know something, e never know am di way wey e suppose know am. ³But if person love our Papa, na our Papa know am.

⁴Concerning to chop food wey dem sacrifice give idol: we know sey idol no be anything for dis world, and no Papa dey except only one. ⁵Even if wetin dem dey call gods dey, for heaven or for ground—and true-true plenty "gods" and plenty "lords" dey— ⁶still yet, for us, one our Papa dey, na from am all things come and na for am we dey live; and one Oga dey, Jesus Christ, na through am all things come be and na through am we dey live. ^a a v6 For here, Paul put di Papa and di Pikin side by side: di one God na our Papa, na im all things come from, and di one Oga na Jesus, na through am all things take come be.

⁷But no be everybody get dis knowledge. Some people, wey still dey used to idol reach now, dey chop dis food as if sey na true-true dem sacrifice am give idol, and their weak conscience come dirty. ⁸Food no dey carry us come near our Papa. We no bad pass if we no chop, and we no better pass if we chop. ⁹But make you careful sey dis your right no go somehow turn to something wey go make di weak ones fall. ¹⁰If somebody see you, wey get knowledge, dey chop for inside idol temple, no be im weak conscience go come get mind to chop food wey dem sacrifice give idol? ¹¹So by your knowledge, dis weak person spoil finish—di brother wey Christ die for. ¹²When you sin like dis against your brothers, and wound their weak conscience, na against Christ you dey sin. ¹³So if food dey make my brother fall, I no go chop meat again forever, so I no go make my brother fall.
