Joshua 10

10 ¹Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, hear say Joshua don capture Ai and set am apart for total destruction—handling Ai and im king just like wetin e do Jericho and im king—and say di people of Gibeon don make peace with Israel, and dem dey live among dem now. ²Di people of Jerusalem fear well well, because Gibeon na big city, like one of di royal cities, and because e big pass Ai, and all im men na warriors. ³So Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, send word give Hoham king of Hebron, give Piram king of Jarmuth, give Japhia king of Lachish, and give Debir king of Eglon, say, ⁴“Una come up meet me and help me, make we attack Gibeon, because e don make peace with Joshua and with di people of Israel.” ⁵So di five kings of di Amorites—di kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon—come join force and go up with all dia armies. Dem camp against Gibeon and make war against am. ⁶Di men of Gibeon send dis message give Joshua for di Gilgal camp: “No abandon your servants! Come quick-quick and rescue us—help us! Every Amorite king for di hill country don join force against us.”

⁷So Joshua march go up from Gilgal with all im fighting men—im mighty warriors.

⁸And our Papa tell Joshua, “No fear dem—I don give dem into your hand. Not even one go fit stand before you.”

⁹So Joshua come meet dem sudden-sudden, afta e don march di whole night up from Gilgal. ¹⁰And our Papa throw dem into panic before Israel, strike dem with a great blow for Gibeon, chase dem along di road wey dey go up to Beth-horon, and cut dem down reach Azekah and Makkedah. ¹¹As dem dey run before Israel go down di slope of Beth-horon, our Papa throw great stones on dem from di sky, all di way reach Azekah, and dem die. More of dem die from di hailstones pass di ones wey di people of Israel kill with sword.

¹²Den Joshua talk to our Papa for di day our Papa give di Amorites into di hand of di people of Israel, and before all Israel e say: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over di Valley of Aijalon.” ¹³And di sun stand still, and di moon stop, until di nation don pay back im enemies. No be so dem write am for di Book of Jashar? Di Five Kings Wey Dem Bring Down

¹⁶Now dis five kings don run go hide diasef for di cave for Makkedah. ¹⁷And dem tell Joshua, “Dem don find di five kings, wey dey hide for di cave for Makkedah.”

¹⁸So Joshua say, “Roll big stones against di mouth of di cave, and put men beside am to guard dem. ¹⁹But no stay dia una sef. Chase your enemies and strike dem from behind. No let dem reach dia cities, because una Papa don give dem into una hand.”

²⁰Wen Joshua and di people of Israel don strike dem with a crushing blow and finish dem off—though small survivors escape enter di fortified cities. ²¹Den all di people return safe to Joshua for di camp for Makkedah, and nobody dare talk against any Israelite. ²²Den Joshua say, “Open di mouth of di cave and bring dat five kings come out to me.” ²³So dem bring di five kings come out of di cave to am: di kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon. ²⁴Wen dem don bring dis kings come out to Joshua, e call all Israel men and tell di war commanders wey go with am, “Una come near, put una feet on di neck of dis kings.” So dem come near and put dia feet on dia neck.

²⁵Joshua tell dem, “No fear or no let fear catch una. Be strong and brave—na dis kind thing our Papa go do to all di enemies wey una dey fight.”

²⁶Afta dat, Joshua strike di kings, kill dem, and hang dem on five trees, wia dem stay until evening. ²⁷For sunset Joshua order make dem take di bodies down from di trees and throw dem into di cave wia di kings bin hide. Dem set big stones over di mouth of di cave, wey still dey dia till today.

²⁸Dat day Joshua take Makkedah, strike am and im king with di sword, and destroy everybody inside am—no survivor remain. E do to di king of Makkedah just like wetin e do to di king of Jericho.

Our Papa Give di Cities for South

²⁹Den Joshua and all Israel with am move from Makkedah go Libnah and fight against Libnah. ³⁰And our Papa give am too, with im king, into di hand of Israel. Joshua strike am and every person inside am with di edge of di sword, and e no leave any survivor. E do to im king just like wetin e do to di king of Jericho.

³¹Den Joshua and all Israel with am march from Libnah go Lachish, camp against am, and fight against am. ³²And our Papa give Lachish into di hand of Israel, and Joshua capture am for di second day, strike am and everybody inside am with di sword, just like wetin e do to Libnah. ³³Den Horam king of Gezer come up to help Lachish, but Joshua strike am and im people down, and e no leave any survivor.

³⁴Joshua and all Israel with am move from Lachish go Eglon, camp against am, and fight against am. ³⁵Dem capture am dat day and strike am with di edge of di sword. Dat day e devote to destruction every person inside am, just like wetin e do to Lachish.

³⁶Den Joshua, with all Israel, go up from Eglon to Hebron and attack am. ³⁷Dem capture am, strike am with di edge of di sword—im king, all im towns, everybody inside am. E no leave any survivor, just like wetin e do to Eglon, e devote am and everybody inside am to destruction.

³⁸Den Joshua and all Israel with am turn back go Debir and fight against am. ³⁹E capture am, im king, and all im villages, strike dem with di sword, and devote every person inside am to destruction—no survivors. E do to Debir and im king just like wetin e do to Hebron and to Libnah and im king. ⁴⁰Joshua strike di whole land—di hill country, di Negev, di lowlands, di slopes—and all dia kings. E no leave any survivor; e destroy everything wey dey breathe, just like our Papa, di God of Israel, command. ⁴¹Joshua strike dem from Kadesh-barnea reach Gaza, and all di land of Goshen, reach Gibeon. ⁴²Joshua take all dis kings and dia land for one time, because our Papa, God of Israel, fight for Israel. ⁴³Den Joshua and all Israel with am return to di camp for Gilgal.
