Chapter 16.

16 ¹Di Pharisees and Sadducees come to test am, dey ask am make e show dem sign from heaven.

Di Yeast of False Teaching

⁵When di disciples cross go di other side, dem don forget to bring bread.

⁶Jesus tell dem say, “Open una eye, make una dey careful about di yeast of di Pharisees and Sadducees.”

⁸Jesus wey sabi wetin dey their mind talk say, “Why una dey reason among una self, una wey get small faith, say una no get bread? ⁹Even so, una never understand? Una no remember di five bread wey feed di 5,000, and how many basket una gather?

¹⁰“Or di seven bread wey feed di 4,000, and how many basket una gather?

¹¹“Why una no understand say na no be bread I dey talk to una about? Make una dey careful about di yeast of di Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Peter Confess di Pikin of di Papa

¹³When dem reach di area of Caesarea Philippi, Jesus ask im disciples say, “Who people dey talk say the Pikin of Man be?”

¹⁴Dem talk say, “Some dey talk say na John the Baptist, others say na Elijah, others still say na Jeremiah or one of di prophets.”

¹⁵E ask dem say, “But who una say I be?”

¹⁶Simon Peter answer say, “You na di Christ, di Pikin of di living Papa.”

¹⁷Jesus answer say, “Simon pikin of Jonah, you don bless—na no be flesh and blood show you dis thing, but na my Papa wey dey for heaven.

¹⁹“I go give you di keys of di kingdom of our Papa; anything wey you tie for earth go don dey tied for heaven, and anything wey you loose for earth go don dey loosed for heaven.”

Di Pikin Must Suffer and Rise Up

²¹From dat time, Jesus start to dey tell im disciples say e must go Jerusalem, suffer plenty for di hand of di elders, chief priests, and scribes, make dem kill am, and make e rise up for di third day.

²²Peter carry am go one side, dey talk am strong say, “God no gree, Oga! Dis thing no go ever happen to you.”

²³But e turn, tell Peter say, “Comot for my back, Satan! You be obstacle to me, because you no dey think about di things wey our Papa care about, but di things wey people care about.”

²⁴Then Jesus tell im disciples say, “Anybody wey wan follow me must deny imself, carry im cross, and follow me.

²⁵“Because anybody wey wan save im life go lose am, but anybody wey lose im life because of me go find am.

²⁶“Wetin e go profit if person gain di whole world but lose im soul? Or wetin person fit give to buy back im soul?

²⁷“Because the Pikin of Man dey come soon inside di glory of im Papa with im angels, and e go pay back every person according to wetin dem don do.

²⁸“Trulytruly I dey tell una: some people wey dey stand here no go taste death until dem see the Pikin of Man dey come inside im kingdom.”
