1 Samuel 19

19 ¹Saul talk to im pikin Jonathan and all im servants about how he wan kill David. But Jonathan, Saul im pikin, be really really happy for David. ²Jonathan tell David, "Saul my papa wan kill you, so make you dey careful for morning—hide yourself, make dem no see you. ³I go comot, stand near my papa for di field wey you dey, and I go talk to my papa about you—den I go tell you whatever I find out."

⁴Jonathan talk good about David to im papa Saul and tell am: "Make di king no sin against im servant David, because David never sin against you. Instead, di things wey he do don be very good for you. ⁵He put im life for danger to kill di Philistine, and our Papa win big victory for all Israel. You see am and you rejoice. Why you go wan sin against innocent blood, dey kill David for nothing?"

⁶Saul listen to Jonathan and he swear, "As our Papa dey alive, dem no go kill David."

⁷Jonathan call David and tell am all dis tin, den he bring am come Saul, and David serve am like before.

⁸War burst out again. David comot, fight di Philistines, beat dem with big beating, and dem run comot from am.

⁹But wan bad spirit from our Papa come on Saul as he sidon for im house, spear dey im hand, and David dey play di lyre. ¹⁰Saul try to nail David to di wall with im spear, but David dodge, and di spear hit di wall. David run comot and escape dat night. ¹¹Saul send men to watch David house and kill am for early morning. Michal, David wife, warn am: "If you no run tonight, you go don die by morning." ¹²So Michal let David comot through wan window, and he run comot and escape. ¹³Den Michal take di household idol, put am for di bed, put goat-hair blanket for im head, and cover am with cloth. ¹⁴When Saul send messengers to catch David, Michal talk, "He dey sick."

¹⁵So Saul send di messengers go back go see David, he talk, "Carry am come me for di bed, make I fit kill am." ¹⁶When di messengers enter, na di household idol dey for di bed, goat-hair quilt for im head.

¹⁷Saul talk to Michal, "Why you deceive me like dis and let my enemy escape?" Michal tell Saul, "He talk give me say, ‘Let me go, why I go kill you?’"

¹⁸David run comot and escape, come meet Samuel for Ramah, and tell am everything wey Saul do am. Den him and Samuel go stay for Naioth. ¹⁹Dem tell Saul, "David dey Naioth for Ramah." ²⁰Saul send messengers to catch David. But when dem see di band of prophets dey prophesy, with Samuel dey stand as dia leader, di Spirit of our Papa come on Saul messengers, and dem too begin prophesy. ²¹Dem tell Saul; he send oda messengers, and dem too prophesy. Saul send messengers again, di third time, and dem too prophesy. ²²For last Saul himself go Ramah, he reach di big well for Secu. He ask, "Where Samuel and David dey?" "For Naioth for Ramah," person talk.

²³He go Naioth for Ramah, but di Spirit of our Papa come on am too, and he dey waka dey go, dey prophesy, until he reach Naioth for Ramah. ²⁴He too pull off im clothes, prophesy for front of Samuel, and lie down naked all dat day and dat night. Na why people dey talk, "Saul sef dey among di prophets?"
