1 Corinthians 10

10 ¹My brothers and sisters, I want make una know: our ancestors all dey under di cloud, dem all pass through di sea. ²Dem all baptize into Moses inside di cloud and inside di sea. ³Dem all chop di same spiritual food, ⁴and dem all drink di same spiritual drink, because dem drink from di spiritual rock wey dey follow dem—dat rock na Christ. ⁵But our Papa no happy with most of dem, because dem fall die for di wilderness.

⁶Now dis things become example for us, so dat we no go crave bad things like how dem take crave am. ⁷No become idol worshipper like some of dem be; as dem write am: "di people sit down to chop and drink, den stand up to play." ⁸Make we no do sexual sin like how some of dem take do—23,000 die for one single day. ⁹Make we no test Christ, like how some of dem take do, and di snakes take destroy dem. ¹⁰And no complain, like how some of dem take complain, and di destroyer take destroy dem. ¹¹Dis things happen to dem as example, and dem write am as warning for us, wey di end of di ages don reach. ¹²So den, make anybody wey think say e dey stand take care so dat e no go fall. ¹³No temptation don catch una except di one wey dey common to all mankind. And our Papa dey faithful: e no go allow make dem tempt una pass wetin una fit bear, but with di temptation e go also make way comot, so una fit endure am.

¹⁴So, una wey I love, run comot from idol worship. ¹⁵I dey talk as to people wey get sense; make una judge for una self wetin I talk. ¹⁶Di cup of blessing wey we dey bless—no be sharing for di blood of Christ e be? Di bread wey we dey break—no be sharing for di body of Christ e be? ¹⁷Since one bread dey, we wey plenty na one body, because we all dey share di one bread. ¹⁸Consider di people of Israel: di ones wey dey chop di sacrifice, no be partner dem be for di altar? ¹⁹Wetin I dey talk den—say food wey dem sacrifice to idol na anything, or say idol na anything? ²⁰No, but wetin di people wey no know di Papa dey sacrifice, dem dey sacrifice am to demons, no be to our Papa; I no want make una dey share with demons. ²¹Una no fit drink di cup of di Oga and di cup of demons; una no fit share di Oga table and di table of demons. ²²Or we dey try provoke di Oga make e jealous? We strong pass am?

²³"Everything dey allowed"—but no be everything dey help. "Everything dey allowed"—but no be everything dey build up. ²⁴Make nobody seek im own good, but di good of im neighbour. ²⁵Chop anything wey dem dey sell for di meat market without asking any question because of conscience, ²⁶because "di earth na our Papa own, and everything wey dey inside am." ²⁷If person wey no believe invite una to chop and una want go, chop anything wey dem put, without asking question because of conscience. ²⁸But if somebody tell una say, "Dis one na sacrifice dem offer am," no chop am, because of di one wey tell una, and because of conscience. ²⁹I no mean una own conscience, but di other person own. Because why di other person conscience go judge my freedom? ³⁰If I chop with thanksgiving, why dem go dey talk bad about me because of something wey I dey give thanks for?

³¹So whether una chop, drink, or do anything, do am all for our Papa glory. ³²No make Jews or Greeks or di church of our Papa vex, ³³so I dey try to please everybody for everything—I no dey seek my own good, but di good of di many, so dat dem fit save.
