Chapter 24.

Our Papa show me two basket of fig wey dem put for front of our Papa temple—afta Nebuchadnezzar wey be king of Babylon carry Jeconiah pikin of Jehoiakim, wey be king of Judah, go exile, together with di big men of Judah, di people wey sabi handwork, and di people wey dey work iron, from Jerusalem go Babylon. One basket get fig wey good well well, wey ripe quick; di oda one get fig wey bad reach say person no fit chop am.

Den our Papa ask me, “Wetin you dey see, Jeremiah?” “Na fig,” I talk, “di good one good well well, di bad one bad reach say person no fit chop am.”

“Na dis one our Papa of Israel talk: Just like dis good fig, na so I go take di people of Judah wey I send comot from here go land of di Babylon people count am as good.

“I go fix my eye on dem for good, I go bring dem come back to dis land; I go build dem, I no go tear dem down, I go plant dem, I no go pull dem comot. I go give dem heart wey go make dem know me as Papa; dem go be my pikin dem, and I go be dia Papa, because dem go turn come back to me with dia whole heart.’

“But just like bad fig, wey rotten reach say person no fit chop am—na so our Papa talk—na so I go take handle Zedekiah wey be king of Judah, di big men wey dey with am, and di people wey remain for Jerusalem, wey stay for here o, or wey dey for Egypt.

“I go make dem turn to something wey go dey shake person body, disaster, shame, something wey people go take laugh, mock, and curse for all di kingdom for di whole earth, for anywhere wey I drive dem go. I go send sword, hunger, and sickness wey dey kill against dem, until dem finish comot from di land wey I give dem and dia papa-papa dem.”
