Isaiah 9

Book

Light Come Shine for Galilee

Light come di area wey first suffer shame, dem burn di war load wey blood don soak, and dem give one pikin wey dem dey call Papa Wey Dey Forever. Den di tone come hard: Ephraim answer im ruin wit boast say e go build wit better material, leaders dey lead people go wrong way, brother dey chop brother, and di hand wey stretch out no draw back.

Chapter 9.

But darkness no go dey again for di woman wey bin dey suffer bad-bad. For before, e bring down di land of Zebulun and Naphtali, but for later, e honour di road wey dey by di sea, for di other side of Jordan, Galilee of di nations. a a v1 Matthew take dis prophecy join to Jesus im work for Galilee — Matt 4:15-16. Di light wey come shine for Zebulun and Naphtali na Jesus imsef. Di people wey dey waka inside darkness don see one big light; for those wey dey live for land of thick darkness, light don shine. b b v2 Matthew tell us say dis light come shine inside Jesus — e take dis very words join to di start of im work for Galilee (Matthew 4:15-16). You don make di nation plenty; you don increase dia joy. Dem dey rejoice for your front like joy for harvest time, like how men dey happy when dem dey share di things wey dem win for war. Because di yoke of im heavy load, and di bar wey dey cross im shoulder, di cane of di person wey dey oppress am, you don break am like for di day of Midian. Because every boot of di soldier wey dey trample for di noise of war, and every cloth wey blood soak, dem go burn am as firewood for fire. Because dem don born pikin give us, dem don give us one son; and di government go dey for im shoulder. And dem go call im name Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Papa Wey Dey Forever, Prince of Peace. Di increase of im government and peace no go ever end, for di throne of David and over im kingdom, to set am up and to hold am strong with justice and with correct-and-holy way from now go and forever. Di strong-strong desire of di Papa wey be Oga of heaven army go make dis one happen. c c v7 Di throne of David find im King wey no dey end inside Jesus — Luke 1:32-33. Our Papa, Oga of all di army for heaven, bring wetin no earthly king fit do: kingdom of justice and correct-and-holy way wey no dey end.

Word Wey Come Against Jacob Pride

Di Sovereign Papa don send word against Jacob, and e don fall on Israel. And all di people go know am—Ephraim and di people wey dey live for Samaria—wey dey talk with proud and big-headed heart say: “Di bricks don fall, but we go build am back with stone wey dem cut; dem don cut down di sycamore trees, but we go put cedar for dia place.” So our Papa raise up di adversaries of Rezin against dem, and e stir up dia enemies. Aram from di east and di Philistines from di west don chop Israel with open mouth. With all dis one, im anger never turn away, and im hand still dey stretch out.

But still, di people no turn go di one wey beat dem, dem no come find di Papa wey be Oga of heaven army. So our Papa cut comot for Israel both head and tail, palm branch and reed, for one single day, di elder and di man wey get honour na di head, and di prophet wey dey teach lie na di tail. Because those wey dey lead dis people dey carry dem go wrong way, and those wey dem dey lead don swallow finish. Na why di Sovereign Papa no dey rejoice over dia young men, and im belle no dey pain am for dia orphans and dia widows; because everybody no get God for mind and na person wey dey do bad, and every mouth dey talk foolishness. With all dis one, im anger never turn away, and im hand still dey stretch out.

Because wickedness dey burn like fire; e dey chop briers and thorns; e dey set di thick bush of di forest on fire, and dem dey roll go up like pillar of smoke. Through di vex of di Papa wey be Oga of heaven army, di land don burn, and di people don turn like firewood for fire; nobody dey spare im brother. Dem dey cut chop for di right side, but hunger still dey catch dem; dem dey chop for di left side, but dem no belle-full; everybody dey chop di flesh of im own arm. Manasseh dey chop Ephraim, and Ephraim dey chop Manasseh, and together dem dey against Judah. With all dis one, im anger never turn away, and im hand still dey stretch out.
