Book

Di End Don Reach

Our Papa word na just: di end don come. No be warning wey still get time: di doom don land, buyer and seller go lose evritin, and dem go throw silver and gold for road as tins wey no get use. Prophet, priest and elder — all of dem no get advice again. Nothing here soft.

Chapter 7.

Di word of our Papa come meet me, e talk say:

And you, pikin of man—na dis di Sovereign Papa talk to di land of Israel: End don come! Di end dey come on di four corners of di land. Now di end don dey on top you, and I go send my vex against you. I go judge you according to your ways and bring all your bad-bad practice wey I hate come on top you. My eye no go spare you, and I no go pity you; I go pay you back for your ways, and your bad-bad practice wey I hate go dey for your midst. Den you go know say I be your Papa. Na dis di Sovereign Papa talk: Wahala! Wahala wey no get e mate—look am, e dey come! End don come! Di end don come! E don wake e sef against you—look am, e dey come! Doom don come on top you, you wey dey live for di land. Di time don reach; di day don near—a day of panic, no be day of happy shout for di mountains. a a v7 For ancient Israel, mountains na di traditional place for community festival and celebration; di contrast na say dis day go bring only fear, no be joy. Very soon now I go pour my anger on top you and loose my vex against you. I go judge you according to your ways and bring all your bad-bad practice wey I hate come on top you. My eye no go spare, and I no go pity you; I go pay you back according to your ways, and your bad-bad practice wey I hate go dey for your midst. Den you go know say I be your Papa, di One wey dey strike. Look, di day! Look am, e dey come! Doom don comot; di rod don blossom, pride don bud. Violence don rise become rod of wickedness. None of dem no go remain—none of dia crowd, none of dia wealth—and notin wey get value among dem. Di time don reach; di day don arrive. Make di buyer no rejoice and di seller no cry, because vex dey on top all dia crowd. Di seller no go return to wetin e sell, even while di two of dem still dey alive. Because di vision against all dia crowd no go change, and because of im sin nobody fit hold on to im life.

Dem don blow di trumpet and make everytin ready, but nobody dey go battle, because my vex dey on top all dia crowd. Di sword dey outside; sickness and hunger dey inside. Whoever dey for di field go die by di sword, and whoever dey for di city—hunger and sickness go chop am. Dem wey escape among dem go run go di mountains like doves of di valleys, all of dem dey groan, each one over im own sin. Every hand go weak, and every knee go turn to water. Dem go wear mourning cloth, and horror go cover dem; shame go dey on top every face, and every head go dey shave bare. Dem go throway dia silver for di street, and dia gold go be like sometin wey dirty. Dia silver and dia gold no fit rescue dem for di day of my vex. E no fit satisfy dia hunger or fill dia belle, because na di stumbling block wey lead dem into sin. Dem take pride for di fine of dia ornaments and use dem make dia images wey I hate and dia dirty idol. Na so I don make dis tins turn dirty tin to dem. I go hand dis tins over as loot to foreigners and as spoil to di wicked people of di earth, and dem go defile am. I go turn my face comot from dem, and dem go defile my treasured place; robbers go enter am and defile am. Make chain! Because di land full of bloody crime and di city full of violence. I go bring di worst of di nations come take possession of dia houses. I go put end to di pride of di strong, and dia holy places go dey defiled. When anguish come, dem go look for peace, but peace no go dey. Wahala on top wahala go come, and rumor on top rumor. Dem go seek vision from di prophet, but instruction go perish from di priest and counsel from di elders. Di king go mourn, di prince go dey wrapped for despair, and di hands of di people of di land go dey shake. I go deal with dem according to dia own conduct, and by dia own standard I go judge dem. Den dem go know say I be dia Papa.
