Nineveh bin be one very big city—e take three days to waka cross am. 4Jonah waka enter di city for one day and shout say, “Forty days remain and Nineveh go turn upside-down!” a a v4 “Turn upside-down” carry double meaning wey dem put on purpose—e fit mean say di city go scatter, or say di city go change; na dis irony di rest of di chapter come make happen.
5Di people of Nineveh believe God. Dem call fast and put on sackcloth, from di biggest person reach di smallest.
6Wen di news reach di king of Nineveh, e getup from im throne, comot im royal cloth, cover imself with sackcloth, and siddon inside ashes. 7E make dem announce dis one for Nineveh, by di order of di king and im big-men: No person or animal, cow or sheep, must taste anytin; dem no fit chop grass or drink water. 8Make people and animal cover demself with sackcloth, and make everybody cry to God with all dia strength. Make each person turn from im bad way and di wickedness wey dey im hand. 9Who know? God fit turn and change im mind, turn from im hot anger, so dat we no go scatter.
