2 Kings 10

10 ¹Ahab get seventy sons for Samaria. Jehu send letters go Samaria, to di city officials, di elders, and di people wey dey mind Ahab sons, e write say: ²“As dis letter reach una, since una master sons dey wit una, plus chariots, horses, one strong city wey get wall, and weapons. ³Pick di best and di sharpest son among una master pikin dem, put am for im papa throne, and fight for una master house.”

⁴Fear catch dem well well, dem shake pata-pata, and dem talk say, “See, two kings no fit stand before am. How we go take stand?” ⁵Di one wey dey mind di palace, di governor of di city, di elders, and di people wey dey mind di pikin dem send word go Jehu say: “Na your servants we be; we go do everything wey you talk. We no go crown anybody—do wetin good for your eye.”

⁶Jehu write dem second letter say: “If una dey wit me and una go obey me, take di heads of una master sons come meet me for Jezreel by dis time tomorrow.” Di king seventy sons dey wit di big men of di city, wey dey raise dem.

⁷As di letter reach, dem grab di king sons, dem kill all di seventy, put dia heads inside baskets, and send dem go Jehu for Jezreel. ⁸Di messenger tell am say, “Dem don bring di heads of di king sons.” E talk say, “Arrange dem for two piles for di gate mouth till morning.”

⁹For morning e comot, stand before all di people, and talk say: “Una no do anytin wrong. Na me plan against my master and kill am, but na who kill all dis ones? ¹⁰Make una know say nothing wey our Papa talk against Ahab house go fall for ground. Our Papa don do wetin e talk through im servant Elijah.”

¹¹So Jehu kill all di ones wey remain for Ahab house for Jezreel—im big men, im close friends, and im priests—e no leave anybody wey survive.

¹²Den e comot start di journey go Samaria. For road, for Beth-eked of di Shepherds, ¹³Jehu meet di family people of Ahaziah king of Judah and e ask, “Una be who?” Dem answer, “Na Ahaziah family we be, we dey go greet di families of di king and of di king mama.”

¹⁴“Catch dem alive!” e talk. Dem catch dem alive, den kill dem for Beth-eked pit—forty-two men, no even one remain.

¹⁵E comot from there, e meet Jehonadab son of Rechab wey dey come meet am. Jehu greet am and ask, “Your heart dey true to my own, as my own dey to your own?” “E dey,” Jehonadab talk. “If na so,” Jehu talk, “gimme your hand.” E give am, and Jehu pull am enter di chariot.

¹⁶“Come wit me, come see how my heart dey hot for our Papa,” e talk. So e make am ride for im chariot. ¹⁷As e reach Samaria, Jehu kill all di ones wey remain of Ahab for there, e comot dem finish, just as our Papa tell Elijah.

Jehu Comot di Worship of Baal Finish

¹⁸Jehu gather all di people and talk say, “Ahab serve Baal small; Jehu go serve am plenty. ¹⁹Call all Baal prophets come meet me, all im worshippers, all im priests—make nobody miss; I get one big sacrifice for Baal, and anybody wey miss no go live.” But Jehu do dis one wit trick, so e go destroy Baal worshippers.

²⁰Jehu order say, “Announce one holy gathering for Baal.” So dem announce am.

²¹Jehu send word go all over Israel; all Baal worshippers come, nobody stay back. Dem enter Baal house, fill am from one end reach di oda end. ²²Jehu tell di one wey dey mind di cloth store say, “Bring out robes for all Baal worshippers.” E bring dem out.

²³Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab enter Baal temple. E tell Baal worshippers say, “Check well well—make sure say no servants of our Papa dey here among una, na only Baal worshippers.”

²⁴Dem enter go offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Jehu don station eighty men outside and e warn dem say, “Anybody wey let any of di men wey I put for una hand run comot, na im own life go pay for di man life.”

²⁵As dem finish di burnt offering, Jehu tell di guards and di officers say, “Enter go, kill dem—make nobody comot.” Dem strike dem wit sword; di guards and di officers throw dem out and enter di inside room of Baal temple. ²⁶Dem bring out di holy pillars of Baal temple and burn dem. ²⁷Dem break down di holy pillar of Baal, break down Baal temple, and turn am to toilet reach today.

²⁸So Jehu comot Baal worship finish from Israel. ²⁹But still, Jehu no turn from di sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, wey e lead Israel enter—di golden calves for Bethel and Dan.

³⁰Our Papa tell Jehu say, “Because you do well, you do wetin correct for my eye, and you do everything wey I plan to Ahab house, your pikin dem go sit for Israel throne reach di fourth generation.”

³¹But Jehu no follow di law of our Papa, di God of Israel, wit care and wit im whole heart. E no turn from di sins of Jeroboam, wey lead Israel to sin.

³²For those days our Papa start to cut Israel small. Hazael strike dem all over Israel land. ³³For east side of Jordan—all Gilead, di land of Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh—from Aroer for di Arnon Valley, through Gilead and Bashan.

³⁴Di oda tins wey Jehu do—everything wey e do and all im power—no be inside di book of di chronicles of Israel kings dem write am? ³⁵Jehu sleep wit im ancestors and dem bury am for Samaria; im son Jehoahaz rule for im place. ³⁶Di time wey Jehu rule over Israel for Samaria na twenty-eight years.
