No One Who Does Good
For the director of music, according to Mahalath. A wisdom psalm of David.
Nearly identical to Psalm 14. Our Father surveys all humanity looking for one person who understands, and finds none. Those who devour his people are seized by dread where there was nothing to dread. It ends longing for salvation out of Zion.
53 1The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, doing detestable wrong; there is no one who does good.
2Our Father looked down from heaven on all of humanity to see if there were any who understood, any who sought after him. 3They have all fallen away; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
4Do the workers of evil have no knowledge—those who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon our Father? 5There they were, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread; for our Father scattered the bones of him who encamped against you; you put them to shame, for our Father has rejected them.
6Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When our Father restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
