Deuteronomy 21

21 ¹If dem find one man wey dem don kill, wey lie down for di field for di land wey your Papa give you make you own am, and nobody know who kill am, ²then your elders and your judges must comot go measure how far di towns wey dey around di dead body reach. ³Di elders of di city wey near pass di dead body must take one young cow wey never work, wey dem never put yoke for im neck, ⁴and di elders of dat town must bring di young cow go down to one valley wey water dey run, wey dem never plow or plant anytin for inside, and dem go break im neck for dere for inside di valley. ⁵Di priests, di sons of Levi, must come forward, because na dem your Papa choose make dem serve am and bless people for di name of our Papa; na by dem word dem dey settle every quarrel and every fight. ⁶All di elders of dat city wey near pass di dead body must wash dem hand for on top di young cow wey dem break im neck for di valley, ⁷and dem must talk say, “Na no be our hand shed dis blood, and na no be our eye see am. ⁸Make atonement for your people Israel, our Papa, di people wey you redeem; no put blood wey no get guilt for middle of your people Israel. Then di blood go get atonement for dem.” ^a a v8 Di young-cow ritual make e possible for di town wey near pass to openly declare say im hand clean and to look for atonement before God for one murder wey nobody solve for di land. ⁹So you go comot di guilt of blood wey no get guilt from your middle, when you do wetin correct for di eye of our Papa.

Woman wey Dem Capture, Dem Take Am as Wife

¹⁰When you march comot go fight against your enemies and our Papa hand dem give you and you capture some of dem, ¹¹and among di people wey you capture you see one fine woman, and you want am, and you wan take am as your wife, ¹²then bring am enter your house, and she must shave im head and cut im nails. ¹³Make she comot di cloth wey she wear as captive, and make she stay for your house, and mourn im papa and im mama for one whole month. After dat you fit go meet am as husband, and she go become your wife. ¹⁴If you no want am again, make you let am go where she wan go. No sell am for silver or treat am like slave, because you don shame am.

Di First Pikin Own Inheritance

¹⁵If a man get two wives, one wey e love, one wey e no love well-well, and di two of dem born sons for am, but na di wife wey e no love well-well born di first pikin, ^b b v15 For here “wey e no love well-well” just mean say e love am small pass — di wife wey hold second place for im heart, no be one wey e hate. ¹⁶when e dey share im property give im sons, e no fit make di son of di wife wey e love become first pikin over di son of di wife wey e no love, di real first pikin. ¹⁷Instead e must recognize di son of di wife wey e no love as di first pikin, and give am double share of everytin wey e get; because na dis pikin be di first sign of im strength—di birthright na im own.

Pikin wey Get Stubborn Head and Dey Rebel

¹⁸If a man get pikin wey get stubborn head and dey rebel, wey no dey obey im papa or im mama, and no dey listen when dem correct am, ¹⁹then im papa and im mama must hold am and bring am go meet di elders for di gate of im city, ²⁰and tell di elders of im city, “Dis our pikin get stubborn head and dey rebel; e no dey listen to us—e be greedy-mouth and e dey drink too much.” ²¹All di men of im city must stone am till e die. Clear di evil comot from your middle, and all Israel go hear am and go dey fear.

Curse Dey Any Person wey Dem Hang for Tree

²²If a man sin deserve death and dem kill am, and you hang am for tree, ²³no leave im body for di tree overnight; bury am dat same day, because any person wey dem hang for tree dey under di curse of our Papa. No make your land dirty, di land wey your Papa give you make you inherit am. ^c c v23 Paul tell us say Jesus become curse for us as e hang for di tree, so dat di blessing of di Papa fit reach everybody — Galatians 3:13.
