1 Samuel 29

29 ¹Now di Philistine people gather all dia army for Aphek, while Israel camp for di spring wey dey Jezreel. ²As di Philistine rulers dey march comot for hundreds and thousands, David and im men dey march for di back with Achish.

³Di Philistine commanders ask, “Wetin dis Hebrew people dey do here?” Achish tell dem, “Na David be dis, servant of Saul di king of Israel. E don dey with me dis days—no be so, na dis years—and from di day wey e run comot come meet me till now, I never find any bad thing for am.”

⁴But di Philistine commanders vex with am and talk say, “Send di man go back to di place wey you give am. E no fit enter battle with us, if not e fit turn against us for inside di fight. How e go take win back im master favour pass with di heads of our own men? ⁵No be dis same David wey dem sing about for dia dance say: ‘Saul don kill im thousands, David im tens of thousands’?”

⁶So Achish call David and tell am, “As Oga dey alive, you dey honest, and e go make me glad make you dey march comot and enter with me for di camp. I never find any bad thing for you since di day wey you come meet me till now. But di rulers no gree for you. ⁷So turn go back and go with peace, so dat you no go do anything wey go vex di Philistine rulers.”

⁸“But wetin I do?” David ask. “Wetin you don find against your servant since I come meet you till now, wey make say I no go fit go fight di enemies of my lord di king?”

⁹Achish tell David, “I know say to me you good like angel of God. But still, di Philistine commanders don talk say, ‘E no fit go up with us enter battle.’ ¹⁰So wake up early for morning, you and your master servants wey come with you; wake up early and comot when day don break.”

¹¹So David and im men wake up early to head go back to Philistia as day dey break, while di Philistine people go up to Jezreel.
