Creation Speaks
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
Two witnesses, joined together. Sun and sky speak without words to the ends of the earth; then the instruction of our Father speaks plainly, sweeter than honey from the comb. Having heard both, the psalmist asks to be cleansed of faults he cannot see.
19 1The heavens declare the glory of our Father; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2Day after day they pour out their words; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3There is no speech, there are no words—their voice is never heard. 4Yet their voice goes out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, 5which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. 6It rises from one end of the heavens, and its circuit reaches the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.
7The law of our Father is perfect, refreshing the soul; the testimony of our Father is trustworthy, making the simple wise. 8The precepts of our Father are right, giving joy to the heart; the commandment of our Father is radiant, giving light to the eyes. 9The fear of our Father is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of our Father are true, and altogether righteous. 10They are more desirable than gold, than even the finest gold; sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. 11They warn your servant; keeping them brings great reward.
12Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. 13Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great rebellion.
14May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, my Father, my rock and my redeemer.
