Book

Woe to Those Wey Dey Trust Egypt

Egypt horse na flesh, dem no be spirit; if you lean on dem, both the helper and the person wey dem dey help go fall together. Papa na lion wey shepherd dem shouting no fit scare comot, and e be like bird wey dey hover over Jerusalem. Assyria go fall by sword wey no man hold, and the people go throw their idol dem away.

Chapter 31.

Woe to those wey dey go down to Egypt make dem find help, wey dey lean on horses, wey dey trust chariots because dem plenty, and dey trust horsemen because dem strong well well—but dem no dey look di Holy One of Israel, our Papa, dem no dey find am. But E too get wisdom, and E dey bring disaster; E no dey take im words back. E go rise against di house of di people wey dey do evil, and against di help of those wey dey do wrong. Di Egypt people na men, no be God; dem horses na flesh, no be spirit. When our Papa stretch out im hand, di one wey dey help go stumble, and di one wey dem dey help go fall, and dem all go finish together.

Because na dis one our Papa tell me: Just as lion or young lion dey growl over di animal wey e catch—and even if dem call plenty shepherds come against am, e no dey fear dem shouting or dey shake for dem noise—so di Papa of heaven's armies go come down come fight for Mount Zion and for im high place. Like birds wey dey fly over head, so di Papa of heaven's armies go cover Jerusalem; E go cover am and save am, E go pass over am and rescue am.

Come back to di One wey una, di people of Israel, don turn una back give am so deep. Because for dat day everybody go throway im idols wey dem make from silver and im idols wey dem make from gold, wey una own hands don make for una for sin.

Den Assyria go fall by sword wey no be man own, and sword wey no be person own go chop am. E go run comot before di sword, and dem go put im young men for forced labor. Im strong place go crumble for fear, and im princes go run comot for panic when dem see di battle flag, na so our Papa talk, di One wey im fire dey for Zion and im furnace dey for Jerusalem.
