16 ¹Our Papa tell Samuel say, "How long you go dey mourn for Saul, since I don reject am as king ontop Israel? ²Samuel say, "How I go take go? If Saul hear am, e go kill me." Our Papa say, "Carry one young cow with you and talk say, 'Na sacrifice I come make give di Papa.'

³Invite Jesse come di sacrifice; I go show you wetin you go do. Anoint for me di one wey I go name."

⁴Samuel do as our Papa talk and e go Bethlehem. Di elders for di town come meet am dey shake and ask am, "You come with peace?"

¹⁷So Saul tell im servants say, "Find me person wey dey play well and bring am come meet me."

¹⁸One of di servant answer: "I don see one pikin of Jesse for Bethlehem wey dey play well—e brave, e be warrior, e sabi talk, e fine, and our Papa dey with am."

¹⁹Saul send messengers go meet Jesse, talk say, "Send David your pikin come meet me, di one wey dey with di sheep."

²⁰Jesse load one donkey with bread, one skin of wine, and one young goat, and send dem go give Saul with im pikin David. ²¹David come meet Saul and enter im service. Saul love am well well, and David come be di one wey dey carry im weapon. ²²Saul send message go Jesse: "Make David stay for my service, because e don find favour with me." ²³Any time di harmful spirit from our Papa come ontop Saul, David go play di lyre. Saul go feel relief and better, and di evil spirit go comot from am.
