Psalms 148

Book

All Creation, Praise Him

A roll call of praise from the top down: angels, sun and moon, then sea creatures, weather, mountains, trees, animals, kings and children. Everything named was made by command, and everything is asked to answer with one name: our Father.

Chapter 148.

Hallelujah! Praise our Father from the heavens; praise him in the heights. Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his armies. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens. Let them praise the name of our Father, for he commanded and they were created. He established them forever and ever; he gave a decree that will not pass away.

Praise our Father from the earth, you sea creatures and all ocean depths, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, crawling creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth, young men and young women alike, old men and children.

Let them praise the name of our Father, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above earth and heaven. He has raised up strength for his people, praise for all his faithful ones, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Hallelujah!
