Psalms 149

Book

A New Song

A new song with an edge: dancing, tambourines, singing on their beds, and a two-edged sword in hand to carry out written judgment on kings and nations. The honor belongs to the humble, whom our Father crowns with salvation.

Chapter 149.

Hallelujah! Sing to our Father a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing, making music to him with tambourine and lyre. For our Father takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. a a v4 Our Father does not merely tolerate his people — he delights in them, and he beautifies the humble with his rescue. Let the faithful rejoice in this honor; let them sing for joy on their beds.

Let the high praises of our Father be on their lips, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to bring justice on the nations and judgment on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out on them the written judgment. This is the honor of all his faithful ones. Hallelujah!
