Ephesians 5

5 ¹So make una copy our Papa, as im dear pikin dem. ²Waka inside love, just as Christ love us and give imself for us, as offering and sacrifice wey dey smell sweet to our Papa.

³Sexual dirty life, all kind uncleanness, or greedy mind, no suppose even carry name for una midst, as e fit people wey holy. ⁴Dirty talk, foolish gist, and rough joke no get place for una midst—instead make una dey give thanks. ⁵Sabi dis one: no person wey dey do sexual dirty life, no person wey dey unclean, no greedy person—wey be idol worshipper—get any inheritance for di kingdom of Christ and our Papa.

⁶No make anybody deceive una with empty words—na because of dis kind things our Papa vex dey come on top people wey no dey obey. ⁷So no join body with dem;

⁸for before-before, una be darkness, but now una don be light for inside Oga—so make una waka as pikin dem of light. ⁹(for na inside everything wey good and correct and true di fruit of light dey show), ¹⁰and try to know wetin dey make Oga happy. ¹¹No follow inside di work of darkness wey no dey bear fruit, but rather make una comot am for open. ¹²For e dey shame person even to talk about di things wey dem dey do for hidden place. ¹³But when light shine on any thing, e go show clear, ¹⁴for anything wey show clear na light. Na why e talk say: “Wake up, you wey dey sleep, and rise from di dead, and Christ go shine on you.” ^a a v14 Dis one fit be early Christian song or baptism call—e no dey quote directly from di Old Testament.

¹⁵So make una look well how una dey waka, no be as people wey no get sense but as people wey get wisdom, ¹⁶dey use di time well-well, because di days bad. ¹⁷So no be foolish person, but understand wetin be di will of Oga. ¹⁸No get drunk with wine—dat one na reckless life—but make di Holy Spirit fill una. ¹⁹Dey talk psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to una-una self, dey sing and dey make melody to Oga inside una heart, ²⁰dey give thanks always and for everything to our Papa inside di name of our Oga Jesus Christ, ²¹dey submit to una-una self because una dey reverence Christ.

Love di Way Christ Love

²²Una wives, submit to una own husband as una dey submit to Oga. ²³For di husband na head of di wife, just as Christ too na head of di church, wey be im body, and na imself be im Savior. ²⁴Now as di church dey submit to Christ, na so too make wives dey submit for everything to dem husband.

²⁵Una husbands, love una wife, just as Christ love di church and give imself up for am, ²⁶so as to make am holy, dey wash am clean with water through di word, ²⁷so dat e fit present di church to imself with glory—no stain, no wrinkle, or anything like dat—but holy and without any fault. ²⁸So make husbands love dem wife as dem own body. Di man wey love im wife dey love imself. ²⁹Nobody don ever hate im own body—dem dey feed am and dey care for am, just as Christ dey do for di church, ³⁰because we be part of im body. ³¹“Na because of dis one man go leave im papa and mama, join im wife, and di two go become one flesh.” ³²Dis mystery deep well-well, and I dey talk say e concern Christ and di church. ³³But make each one of una love im wife as imself, and di wife must respect her husband.
