Silence Full of Praise
For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song.
Praise begins in silence and ends in noisy fields. Our Father covers sin over and hears prayer from the ends of the earth, and then the year itself is crowned: furrows drenched, hills wrapped in joy, meadows and valleys shouting together.
65 1Praise awaits you in silence, our Father, in Zion; and to you our vows will be fulfilled.
2You hear prayer, and all people will come to you. 3When sins overwhelmed me, you atoned for our rebellions. a a v3 The forgiveness our Father provides here is made complete in Jesus, who took our transgressions upon himself so we could be brought home. 4Blessed is the one you choose and bring near to dwell in your courts. We will be filled with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple.
5You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, our Father who saves us, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, 6who set the mountains in place by his strength, clothed with power; 7who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. 8Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders; you make the dawn and the dusk shout for joy.
9You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The river of our Father is full of water; you provide the people with their grain, for this is how you have prepared the land. 10You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its growth. 11You crown the year with your goodness, and your paths overflow with abundance. 12The wilderness pastures overflow, and the hills are wrapped in joy. 13The meadows are clothed with flocks and the valleys are blanketed with grain; they shout for joy and sing together.
