He Sits Enthroned
Three times the psalm stops to say, holy is he. Our Father, the King who makes the earth quake, also loves justice, and its examples are Moses, Aaron and Samuel — men he answered from the pillar of cloud, forgave, and still held to account.
99 1Our Father reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! 2Our Father is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. 3Let them praise your great and awesome name; holy is he!
4The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness; you have brought about justice and righteousness in Jacob. 5Exalt our Father; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!
6Moses and Aaron were among his priests, and Samuel was among those who called on his name. They called to our Father, and he answered them. 7In the pillar of cloud he spoke to them; they kept his commands and the laws he gave them.
8Our Father, you answered them; you were a forgiving Father to them, yet you called them to account for their wrongdoing. 9Exalt our Father, and worship at his holy mountain; for our Father is holy!
