Judges 17

17 ¹One man dey wey come from di hill country of Ephraim, and im name na Micah. ²He tell im mama say, “Di 1,100 pieces of silver wey dem take from you, wey you curse—I hear as you talk am—look, di silver dey with me; na me take am.” Im mama talk say, “Make our Papa bless my pikin.”

³So he return di 1,100 pieces of silver give im mama, and she talk say, “I dedicate dis silver with my own hand give our Papa, for my pikin, to make carved image and cast idol. Now I dey give am back to you.”

⁴He return di silver give im mama; she take 200 pieces give one silversmith, wey make carved image and cast idol; e stand for Micah house.

⁵Dis man Micah get shrine, he make ephod and household idols, and he ordain one of im sons make e be im priest. ⁶For dat time, Israel no get king; everybody just dey do wetin correct for im own eye. ⁷One young man from Bethlehem for Judah, wey be from Judah clan, na Levite, and he dey stay for dere. ⁸Dis man comot from Bethlehem for Judah go find anoda place to stay, and as he dey travel, he reach di hill country of Ephraim, come Micah house. ⁹Micah ask, “Na where you come from?” He talk say, “Na Levite I be, from Bethlehem for Judah; I dey find place to stay.”

¹⁰Micah talk say, “Stay with me; be my father and priest, and I go give you ten pieces of silver every year, one set of cloth, and your food.” So di Levite enter. ¹¹Di Levite gree to stay with di man, and di young man come be like one of im sons to am. ¹²Micah ordain di Levite, and di young man come be im priest and he stay for Micah house. ¹³Micah talk say, “Now I sabi say our Papa go do me well, because I get Levite as my priest.” ^a a v13 Micah sure say our Papa go bless am because he don hire Levite to take care of im idols—di sorrow be say person dey claim di Papa name for worship wey na im own hand make.
