Leviticus 8

8 ¹ Our Father spoke to Moses:

² Take Aaron and his sons with him, the garments, the anointing oil, the bull of the sin offering, the two rams, and the basket of yeast-free bread. ³ and assemble the whole congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting."

⁴ Moses did as our Father commanded him; the assembly gathered at the entrance of the tent of meeting. ⁵ And Moses said to the congregation, "This is what our Father has commanded to be done." ⁶ Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water. ⁷ He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, dressed him in the robe, put the ephod on him, tied the ephod's woven band around him, and fastened it to him. ⁸ He placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim. ^a a v8 The Urim and Thummim were sacred objects kept in the breastpiece and used to seek God's guidance on important decisions. ⁹ He set the turban on Aaron's head, and on its front he set the gold plate, the holy crown, as our Father commanded Moses. ¹⁰ Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and consecrated them. ¹¹ He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times, anointing the altar, its utensils, and the basin with its stand, to dedicate them. ¹² He poured some anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to dedicate him. ^b b v12 Aaron's anointing as high priest points forward to Jesus, the great High Priest our Father anointed to bring his children near to him. ¹³ Then Moses brought Aaron's sons forward, dressed them in tunics, tied on sashes, and put caps on their heads, as our Father had commanded Moses.

¹⁴ He brought the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. ¹⁵ Moses slaughtered it, took the blood, and with his finger applied it to the altar's horns all around, purifying the altar. He poured the blood at the altar's base and dedicated the altar, making atonement for it. ¹⁶ He took all the fat on the inner organs, the liver's lobe, and the two kidneys with their fat, and burned it on the altar. ¹⁷ But the bull—hide, flesh, and waste—he burned outside the camp, as our Father commanded Moses.

¹⁸ He brought the ram for the burnt offering; Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. ¹⁹ Moses slaughtered it and threw the blood against the sides of the altar. ²⁰ He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces, and the fat. ²¹ He washed the inner organs and legs in water, then burned the whole ram on the altar — a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering to our Father, as our Father commanded Moses.

²² He brought the second ram, the ram of ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. ²³ Moses slaughtered it, took some of its blood, and put it on Aaron's right earlobe, right thumb, and right big toe. ²⁴ Moses brought Aaron's sons near and put blood on their right earlobes, thumbs, and big toes, then splashed the rest against the altar's sides. ²⁵ He took the fat, the fat tail, all the fat on the intestines, the liver's long lobe, the two kidneys with their fat, and the right thigh. ²⁶ From the basket of unleavened bread before our Father, he took one cake, one oiled cake, and one wafer, and put them on the fat and the right thigh. ²⁷ He put all these in Aaron's and his sons' hands, and waved them as a wave offering before our Father. ²⁸ Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar with the burnt offering — an ordination offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering to our Father. ²⁹ Moses took the breast and waved it as a wave offering before our Father — Moses's portion from the ram of ordination, as our Father commanded him. ³⁰ Moses took some anointing oil and some blood from the altar and sprinkled it on Aaron and his garments, on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments, and his sons and their garments with him.

³¹ Moses told Aaron and his sons, "Boil the meat at the tent of meeting's entrance, eat it there with the bread from the ordination-offering basket, as I commanded: Aaron and his sons will eat it." ³² Whatever is left of the meat and the bread, burn it with fire. ³³ Do not leave the Tent of Meeting's entrance for seven days, until your ordination days end, for it takes seven days to ordain you. ³⁴ What has been done today, our Father has commanded to be done to make atonement for you. ³⁵ Stay at the tent of meeting's entrance day and night, seven days, doing what our Father requires, so you do not die — this is what I was commanded. ³⁶ So Aaron and his sons did everything our Father had commanded through Moses.
